Athena basics

The C.5 is a two-way speaker design sporting a 1" Teteron Dome tweeter and dual 4" Injection Molded Polypropylene woofers for deep and powerful bass response. Designed for use in both music and home theater applications, the C.5 is timbre-matched with most current Athena models allowing for easy system design.

Tweeters sing the high notes

The technology behind the Teteron tweeter is what allows the Athena products to offer loud, exceptionally clear, accurate, high frequency reproduction with extremely low distortion. The Teteron dome tweeter is a durable synthetic material in a dome shape, specially contoured to reduce distortion, and to fit into the bezel custom designed to amplify and control the tweeter's dispersion. The Teteron material is impervious to moisture, so it is durable and won't change over time. It also has huge sonic benefits over metal tweeters, which have inherent ringing problems. Perhaps the best part of the Athena C.5 is that the same tweeter is used throughout the entire series of products. This provides perfect timbre-matching of front, rear, and center speakers regardless of which model you decide to buy.

Woofers provide the low notes

The woofers used in the C.5 are designed for high performance, high efficiency, durability, and, of course, great sound! These cones are comprised of injection molded polypropylene designed to stay rigid during the most extreme excursion, yet it is light enough to enable fast movement, which means accurate and tight bass response. The rubber surrounds utilized in the C.5 are the best available and provide quiet woofer movement and durability.
