Go Ahead And eXplore With Confidence, Not Worry
For great GPS capabilities at a really affordable price, the eXplorist 100 is there to help you carry out the greatest outdoor expeditions with ease and expertise. As part of the Magellan eXplorist series, TrueFix GPS technology uses up to 14 parallel channels, supported by WAAS and EGNOS satellite-based augmentation systems, to provide you with fast, accurate location information. With reporting accuracy as good as (or better than) three meters from your current position, this model provides all the functions and features an avid outdoor person needs to get around with reliability. You can fully enjoy the experience rather than worrying about getting yourself into something you can't handle.
Leave Those Breadcrumbs At Home Hansel And Gretel
With storage for up to 20 routes and 500 waypoints for each of those routes, you have the freedom to explore your backcountry with ease. Track Logging allows you to keep up to five logs, with 2,000 individual points for each. It's comforting to know that with this feature you can find your way back from any marked position. And with the BackTrack feature that automatically saves positions as you're travelling, you can follow your exact trail back. Imagine the possibilities! And, when you find a particularly good spot, the handy Points-of-Interest feature allows you to visit it again and again. By marking several different locations with selected icons you can remember each one. This is handy, for example, during camping trips when you might mark the campfire with one icon, the car location with another, and your secret fishing spot with another. Then, you can easily navigate between the points during this trip, or the one next year.
So Easy To Operate
Like Magellan's other GPS units, this one is unbelievably manageable with an intuitive menu system, easy-to-read backlit LCD display, and one-button access. This GPS unit is so easy to operate, in fact, that it can be done in the dark--with the backlighting feature, of course. This feature lets your eyes comfortably see both the navigator and the darkened path in front of you with a soft amber glow so you don't have to struggle with focusing between bright light and darkness. Part of the general operation ease comes from the three Navigation Screens (Plotter, Compass, Position) that display the same information, only in different formats, so you can choose the one that works best for your needs at that moment. Then, there's the super-easy Zoom feature that lets you change the map scale so you can see as much, or as little, of the map as you need in order to navigate. And finally, to make it is easy for just you, you can choose the general information you most often want displayed by customizing the selections at the bottom of the LCD screen. Select from: bearing, distance, speed, heading, ETA (estimated time of arrival) ETE (estimated time enroute), elevation, time, or date. You can also change map orientation (North up is the default) when it's more convenient for you to have an alternative orientation.
GOTO Feature
One of the most popular features on the eXplorist 100 is the GOTO routing. This is computed as a straight line from where you are to where you want to go, and is as simple as pressing the GOTO button and selecting your destination from the points-of-interest database. Then, as you move, the GPS unit constantly calculates and displays new positions, headings, and speed. It also constantly computes a direct line from your present position to the destination. To provide you with detailed data about your exact location and destination, the eXplorist 100 uses information from GPS satellites to compute your present position. You can view graphical representations of those satellites and their signal status at any time by switching to the Satellite Status Screen.
The eXplorist 100 Provides Reliability When You Need It Most
This unit's compact size lets you tuck it away in your pocket, while its rubber-armored design makes it durable enough to keep out all the time. Additionally, the eXplorist 100 is waterproof (one meter depth for 30 minutes). To save you power for when you need it most, the Power Timer automatically turns the eXplorist off when none of the buttons has been pressed for a time you can select (5, 10, 30, or 60 minutes). This helps conserve your battery life, as the most severe drain on the batteries is the use of the LCD display backlight.
