Built to the same rugged specifications as Garmin military products, this personal navigator stands tough in the harshest environments. The compact case is ultrasonically welded and waterproof to IPX-7 standards. That means it can withstand immersion in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes. The sleek design of this GPS receiver not only makes it easy to carry, it makes it very easy to use, even when you're on the move in rough terrain. All buttons are located on either side of the unit, allowing for simple, one-handed operation that won't obstruct your view of the display. If the lighting conditions make it hard to see the screen, you can adjust the contrast or turn on the backlight. The eTrex Vista has a silver case that gives it a cool, high-tech look.

Altimeter & Compass

The eTrex Vista contains a built-in barometric altimeter and electronic compass. The compass provides bearing information while you are standing still and the altimeter determines your precise altitude and provides a graphic profile of your trip with useful information like your ascent and descent rates, maximum and minimum elevation and other details you may wish to know or be able to share with others. The eTrex Vista also contains a whopping 24 megabytes of internal memory for storing detailed map data.
