Who needs a smart phone when you have a GENIUS point-and-shoot camera?
Who needs a low quality capture from a smartphone when you've got a point-and-shoot that's just as small, but double the optic capability of a smartphone? Nikon just released the COOLPIX S6300, an updated version of the COOLPIX S6200, with higher resolution at 16 megapixels on a CMOS sensor. This point-and-shoot superstar offers an impressive 10x zoom, rare for cameras under $200. Meanwhile, you'll have 20-in camera scene modes to specify your picture style. Those 20 modes don't even include the auto exposure and auto focus modes that allow you to spend less time fiddling and more time capturing. Apply in-camera editing effects like sepia, nostalgia, high key, low key, and selective color just before you take a picture. Effects like these are typical after-effects achieved by Photoshop or other photo editing programs, but you can save time by setting the effect during capture with a S6300. Its compact size slips into your pocket, and its vibrant colors make it a stylish component to your look rather than a stand-out contraption weighing you down. Capture crisp and clear 1080p videos, and you'll find the camera easy to handle and the menu simple to navigate throughout your video and still capture.
In the box:
AN-CP19 Strap, UC-E6 USB cable, EG-CP16 audio video cable, EN-EL12 rechargeable li-ion battery, EH-69P AC adapter/charger, NikonView NX 2 CD-ROM

I have used Nikon products for 30 years - and would not change to another brand based on my experience during this period. I have and have used a Nikon D100 and a D5100 with a number of lenses. the S6300 was purchased to be a camera that I can carry with me when I do not want to take a dSLR. and lenses. I am not a fan of being required to charge the battery in the camera. For all of my cameras I have at least 1 backup battery. To take care of that problem I have purchased an aftermarket charger that will charge from 110-250VAC and 12VDC auto, etc. Camera functions very well and has enough MP that I can enlarge even a small part of the picture. Optical lens for wide angle to telephone is sufficient for most uses. I know that there are many cameras available including Nikons that have a greater telephoto range, but I think that very few people can hand hold 20, 25, 30x even with VR or whatever their hold still is called. Especially if they are using a very slow shutter speed. This camera permits you to use a number of features that everyone from beginner to seasoned photographer can take advantage of. I am talking about the Scene mode, Special effects, Smart portrait, and Subject tracking modes. It has Movie recording including sound, slow motion and fast motion. I feel that the S6300 will meet most owners needs without having to resort to an owners manual that rivals a dictionary. When you buy this camera or the next version take out the handbook and read all 24 pages through twice The open the book to the page that shows what all the buttons, etc do. While you are doing this charge up the battery. One big complaint have with this series is the poor design for holding the camera. My hands are smooth and dry and that makes it very difficult to hold the smooth finish. I bought a very inexpensive table tripod and I use that as a holder for my left hand. I recommend to anyone looking for a digital camera in this price range to buy Nikon. Even with my pet peeves Nikon is still the best cameras on the market. Still unsure? Go on the Internet to Nikonusa.com and read all of the information that is available there. From warm south Texas.
