The storage space provided by this recording media allows you to capture a multitude of still images or short video clips or a combination of the two. Capture exceptional still images and MPEG video clips directly to the CD-R/RW media, which measures only 3 inches in diameter and is readable on most CD-ROM equipped PCs. And now, for even more convenience and cost-savings, you can use rewritable CD-RW media (MCRW-156A). Transfer your shots from the CD-RW media to your computer and then erase and reuse the same discs over and over. You can do away with film and processing costs forever!

For cost-per-megabyte, the 3" CD Mavica is one of the best values going. In fact, you could spend hundreds of dollars in flash memory just to equal the 156 MB capacity of one 3" CD Mavica disc. And, the CD Mavica disc costs just a few dollars. It's so inexpensive, you could even give a disc to a friend--something you'd never contemplate with flash-based memory. There are no cables to connect or drivers to download. Simply slip the disc out of the camera and into almost any computer. It's that easy.
Many Methods of Capture
It's a good thing you'll have a lot of storage space on your new camera because with so many ways to capture images, you may want to try them all. You get two JPEG formats (fine/standard), a TIF capture mode, Voice Memo and E-mail modes that suit a wide variety of needs. 3-Shot burst mode and Clip Motion modes helps you catch fast moving subjects and give you the ability to create GIF animation. With two MPEG movie modes to choose from, you can also record moving images with this camera, complete with audio recorded through the built-in mic. Take your pick between Video mail (160 x 112, 8 fps with audio) and MPEG VX (640 x 480, 16 fps with audio). Better get out there and capture something.
Enough To Put You In A Great Mode
This camera features all kinds of different modes to help you capture just the image you want. The 7 mode white balance system provides accurate colors in almost any shooting situation including low lit scenes. You can also choose between different scene modes, including landscape, twilight, beach, snow, portrait and twilight portrait, which uses a slow shutter speed to capture the background, along with a flash to light up the person in the foreground. An intelligent pop-up flash with TTL pre-flash metering includes red eye reduction as part of its repertoire.
Super HAD CCD and Vario-Sonnar Lens
Sony's own Super HAD (Hole Accumulation Diode) CCDs provide high resolution for excellent image quality shot after shot. Super HAD allows more light to enter the imager, increasing sensitivity and reducing noise. Famous for sharpness and color accuracy, the Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar 3x optical zoom lens features 7 elements in 8 groups with 2 aspheric elements. Its fast f2.0 aperture is great for low light shooting. The 0-4.0 Smart Zoom (at VGA size) intelligently uses the full CCD to let you zoom into th eportion of interest by cropping the image size, thus avoiding the image degradation of Digital Zooms.
