The DCRSRX60's 1/8" Advanced HAD (Hole Accumulation Diode) CCD with 680K (effective) video pixels provides stunning detail and clarity with exceptional video and still image performance. You'll take great looking digital still images with 680K effective pixels. The impressive 60x optical zoom helps to bring the action close up from far away. In addition, the 2000x digital zoom with interpolation means that extreme digital zooming is clearer, with less distortion than previous types of digital zooms. This Handycam's Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens was designed specifically for compact camcorders, and utilizes precision ground optics to maintain the sharpness and contrast found with larger lenses.

A 2.7-inch Wide (16:9) Touch Panel SwivelScreen LCD display provides excellent viewing clarity. The high resolution 123K pixel LCD rotates up to 270 degrees for multiple viewing angles providing sharp, detailed images for monitoring and playback, and the widescreen format makes shooting in 16:9 mode and composing shots even easier.

Help with tough shooting situations

The DCRSX60 includes Sony's SteadyShot® system that controls shake and vibration frequencies to achieve a level of smoothness without degradation of video like some other image stabilization systems. The DCRSX60 also has a Memory Stick Duo media slot that lets you capture still images at up to 1 megapixel resolution directly onto Memory Stick Duo media for easy transfer to PCs for emailing, printing, or sharing with other compatible Memory Stick media devices. Using a camcorder can be intimidating for some people, so with a press of the Easy Handycam button, most of the advanced features of the DCRSX60 are locked out, leaving only the buttons essential for recording operational.

Easily transferred and burned

The DCRSX60 makes it easy to enjoy your home movies. A USB 2.0 interface provides an easy way to connect your DCRSX60 to a computer for fast transfer of video and still images to your computer for editing. The camcorder can also be used as an external storage device, convenient for archiving, storing, and transporting your videos and still images. You can easily burn a DVD copy of your footage using the supplied software. Simply connect your DCRSX60 to your PC via the supplied USB cable and press the One Touch Disc Burn button.

Hybrid recording

Hybrid recording technology delivers a new level of flexibility for transferring your video footage and digital photos from the camcorder to compatible viewing devices. Record to the camcorder's embedded flash memory drive, or choose instead to record to removable Memory Stick Duo media or Memory Stick PRO Duo media. You can even select from various dubbing functions to easily copy video or still images from the hard disk drive to Memory Stick media, without using a PC. Image recorded or transferred to Memory Stick media can then be played directly on a PS3 or PC to share your memories with friends and family.

The DCRSX60 helps you capture great shots and even improve them after shooting. Program AE (Auto Exposure) modes make recording easy when filming in challenging situations. Choose from scene modes including beach, candle, fireworks, landscape, portrait, sports lesson, spotlight, and sunrise & sunset. You can also enhance your personal videos by adding professional-looking fader effects.

Keep an eye on battery power

This camcorder's InfoLithium battery with AccuPower Meter system lets you charge the battery at any time because unlike NiCad (Nickel Cadmium) batteries, Sony's rechargeable Lithium ion batteries are not subjected to a life shortening "memory effect". The DCRSX60's AccuPower meter displays the battery remaining time in minutes, in either the viewfinder of on the LCD screen. At a touch of a button, battery information is displayed on the LCD screen when charging and when the camcorder is turned off. The display will show how much the battery is charged, in 10-percent increments and the recordable time left when using the LCD screen or in the viewfinder.

Find what you're looking for

Face index makes it easier than ever to find and play back the right video scene. Face index indexes your video footage according to the faces detected in each scene. When it's time to play back video, simply search for what you want by selecting from among the detected faces displayed in the index. And Film Roll index helps you easily find desired scenes in video footage. When using this feature, the camcorder previews the beginning of scenes and can create scene indexes set at specified display intervals (3, 6, or 12 seconds and 1 or 5 minutes).
