Down with distortion
There's no doubt about it: loudspeaker design is a tricky thing. Speaker drivers are designed to produce sound, but sound consists of vibrations traveling through air. Sure, these vibrations reach your ears as music, but they also interact with other objects in the room . . . like, say, the cabinet in which the speaker drivers are housed. With poorly designed speaker cabinets, sound vibrations are translated into resonance that discolors your listening experience. Some speakers take a stand, however. The E770 floorstanding speaker from Jamo combines two innovative design features to reduce unwanted resonance and deliver a more accurate listening experience. First, Decoupled Tweeter Technology mounts the tweeter driver independent of the E770's speaker cabinet, reducing vibrations transmitted from the front baffle to the tweeter by more than 20dB. The result is an uncommonly detailed and realistic reproduction of high-frequency audio. Second, the E770 uses ultra-rigid MDF board to construct the loudspeaker cabinet, and then offsets all main cabinet edges by 2° to further enhance the structure's rigidity. By maximizing the cabinet's rigidity, Jamo minimizes unwanted resonance.
Impressive full-range audio from a single loudspeaker
Jamo's E770 loudspeaker delivers an incredible 35Hz - 20kHz frequency response range. Now, that might not mean much to you, so let us put it this way: the E770 is capable of reproducing sounds as low as 35Hz and as high as 20kHz. Still not that helpful? Well, to illustrate the point, we should take into consideration that 35Hz sounds are lower than those produced by many subwoofers, and 20kHz sounds are about as high as sounds can be and still be pleasant-sounding to the human ear. What's the E770's secret? A full-range, 3-way design. A single 1.0" tweeter teams up with one 6.5" midrange driver and one 6.5" woofer driver to reproduce low bass audio, warm midrange tones, and detailed high-frequency audio . . . all from a single loudspeaker. Further, a ported bass-reflex cabinet design extends and enhances bass-audio performance.
