No ordinary movie night
When you watch a movie at home, you close the curtains, turn off the lights, heck, you even take the phone off the hook. And there's a reason — you don't want to feel like you're in a living room, you don't even want to feel like you're in a "home theater" . . . you want to feel like you're in the movie itself. Now, sure, part of immersing yourself in a movie is darkening out your living room so that your eyes can focus exclusively on your TV. But there's more to a vivid, lifelike cinema experience at home . . . we are, of course, talking about audio. No movie is complete without intricate dialogue, dazzling sound effects, and a swelling score. And thanks to its dynamic combination of front-, center-, and rear-channel surround sound speakers and a powered subwoofer, no home theater experience is complete without the HKTS 20 system from Harman/Kardon.
Duck. Jump. Cringe. Dare to look.
"In the moonlight, stark shadows fall across the threshold of the abandoned mansion. Looking behind one last time to listen to the shallow breath of breeze in the leaves, the heroine faces forward and resolutely, though stealthily, climbs the stairs and enters through the half-opened door. Inside, shadow and moonlight blend smokily at their boundaries; gone are the solid planes of dark and light cast outside. Silence colors all. The length of the main hall she crosses first, edging past the door-less frames leading into hushed dining and living rooms. At the foot of the great stair, she begins to climb, stepping close to the banister, hoping to avoid any groaning warps in the stairs. But all is still; even the wheezing of the breeze in the eaves as heard from outside is wholly muted here within the house. At the stair head, she measures a second hall, her objective in view — a great set of oaken double doors black and sooted with time and shadow . . . and malice. Behind the doors her quest might end, either in triumphant peace or savage failure. She stops. A moment passes and then her hand raises to push open the great doors. And just as her palm is about to touch the wooden gate, a breath exhales behind her." In other words, Boo!. Whether you're watching high horror, the latest blockbuster action flick, or a classic thriller, no movie night is complete without startling surround sound effects. Bringing you four identical satellite speakers — each equipped with one 0.75" tweeter and one 3.0" midrange driver — the HKTS 20 speaker system delivers a surround sound audio experience so full, so dynamic, and so enveloping that you'll be ducking as planes whiz over your head, jumping as something goes "bump" behind you, and scrambling for cover when an enemy attack hits from all directions. Dare to listen.
Every whisper. Every sigh. Every note.
While sound effects and movie scores are essential to the motion picture experience, there's something that we movie enthusiasts crave even more — the human voice. Dialogue drives almost any movie's story line, and so hearing every word of it is critical. While it is often the most overlooked of the speaker channels in a home theater system, the center-channel speaker devotes itself almost entirely to dialogue and music lyrics. Ensuring that you hear ever whisper, every sign, and every note, the HKTS 20 system offers a dynamic, two-way center-channel speaker. The powerful combination of a single 0.75" tweeter and dual 3.0" midrange drivers allows the HKTS 20's center speaker to deliver both clear, nuanced dialogue and vocals as well as select front-channel audio effects. Don't miss a word.
Audio, at its most bass-ic
So, we've got the surround sound effects, and the crisp movie dialogue and music lyrics. But something's missing. Something fundamental. Something you can both hear and feel. That something, of course, is bass. Without bass audio, canon fire in an action movie sounds like pop-guns being fired, and movie scores sound like they're being performed by a quintet rather than a full symphony. And the only place to get deep, powerful bass that completes your listening experience is with an independent subwoofer. More specifically, with the HKTS200 subwoofer, included in the HKTS 20 audio system. Fueling its large 8.0" woofer driver with a whopping 200W of built-in power, this subwoofer adds robust, yet controlled, low-frequency audio to your home theater experience. Hear and feel canon fire as it shakes your living room; let a swell in the movie score guide your emotions . . . discover complete home theater listening with the HKTS 20 from Harman/Kardon.
Ready for your wall
A surround sound speaker system is meant to fill your living room with spectacular sound, not big, boxy speakers. Accordingly, the folks at Harman/Kardon have outfitted the HKTS 20 speaker system with all the necessary hardware for wall mounting the four satellite and single center-channel speakers. This includes both mounting brackets and the necessary mounting screws. Further, helping to simplify setup, purchase includes all the required speaker cabling, allowing you to immediately connect all speakers to your home theater receiver or amplifier.
At home, anywhere
Ensuring safe and seamless integration of the HKTS 20's speakers into your home theater system, Harman/Kardon has designed the satellite and center-channel speakers with magnetic shielding. All electronic devices emit some degree of electromagnetic energy. Now, while most A/V components emit a negligible amount of energy, because of their heavy power consumption and large magnet structures, speakers emit a significant amount of electromagnetic energy. In fact, the level of energy emitted by speakers is significant enough that their operation can interfere with the performance of other components placed near to the speakers, ultimately reducing your system's performance or even damaging other components. However, by magnetically shielding the drivers found in the HKTS 20's satellite and center-channel speakers, Harman/Kardon has eliminated any risk of electromagnetic interference or damage, allowing you to freely place this system's speakers without worry.
