Cinema Smooth light engine

Samsung is a leader in creating light engines that harness DLP HDTV technology from Texas Instruments. The Cinema Smooth light engine in the HL72A650 creates a brilliant picture that's more lifelike and much closer to film quality than previous technologies. You can rely on the HL72A650 DLP HDTV to deliver sharp, 1080p high definition resolution with high contrast and brightness, defined edges, and sharp details.

DLP chips from Texas Instruments

Samsung employs a Texas Instruments DLP chip in the HL72A650 that is comprised of millions of microscopic mirrors. The DLP chip is faster than any other HDTV technology, with the mirrors switching on and off 15,000 times a second to deliver a razor-sharp picture for fast moving images. When combined with Samsung's Cinema Smooth 120Hz light engine, the result is a crisp, bright picture with deep, rich colors that's closer to film.

3D HDTV

Now television is more immersive than ever! Thanks to the HL72A650's 3D-ready design, you're ready to experience a whole new dimension in home theater video. In order to take advantage of this new and emerging advancement in home theater video, you're going to need an HDMI-equipped computer and additional 3D glasses and hardware from Samsung (all sold separately). Once connected, the HL72A650's CinemaSmooth light engine's 120Hz capabilities team up with Samsung's wireless 3D glasses (sold separately) to truly "fill" your home theater or living room with a stunning video experience. Software included with the separate 3D glasses even gives you the ability to experience 2D DVD video in 3D. Prepare yourself to catch the latest HDTV wave!

Three HDMI inputs

Three High Definition Mutlimedia Interface (HDMI) connections make your DLP HDTV a multimedia centerpiece. Connect HD digital devices like disc players, game consoles, and satellite dish components using the two rear connnections and use the side-mounted input for cameras, camcorders, and laptops.

DNIe&trade technology

Samsung's revolutionary DNIe technology delivers digital perfection in crystal-clear images that uncover even the most minute details. DNIe is made up of a motion optimizer, a contrast enhancer, a color optimizer, and a detail enhancer to produce life-like images that rival reality.

SRS TruSurround XT&trade

TruSurround is a patented SRS technology that solves the problem of playing 5.1 multichannel content over two speakers. TruSurround delivers a compelling, virtual surround sound experience through any two-speaker playback system, including internal television speakers and headphones. It is fully compatible with all mutlichannel formats up to 5.1 channels.
