Everything you want and more
The LG 55LW6500 LED 3D HDTV has it all, and then some. This 55" beauty features a 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution with LED backlighting and local dimming for incredible contrast and detail. There are plenty of different picture modes, and Picture Wizard II and ISFccc-readiness ensure that your picture is fine-tuned to be "just right," while an Intelligent Sensor adjusts the brightness based on your room's lighting so the picture maintains optimal brightness, day or night. The sensor also helps save energy, leading the 55LW6500 to earn ENERGY STAR certification. But this LED LCD has much more to offer. It's also 3D TV, so you can enjoy the latest Full HD 3D Blu-rays. It will even upconvert 2D content to artificial 3D, and the LW6500 will let you adjust the depth on your 3D so it looks natural to you. Four pairs of 3D glasses are even included! The included Wi-Fi adapter gives you even more entertainment options. DLNA certification lets you access media from other devices (like PCs) on your home network. But the fun really smarts with Smart TV and the LG App Store. Smart TV offers instant streaming from a wide variety of top content providers for movies, TV, music, and even photos. Meanwhile, the LG App Store lets you download a variety of fun and useful Apps to your TV, from social networking to entertainment to informative Apps. With this TV, your entertainment options are virtually limitless!
Not all 3D is created equal
The LG LW6500 Series utilizes passive 3D technology to create the 3D effect. With passive 3D, rather than having two separate pictures per frame, one frame is shown with the pictures for both the right and left eyes. The glasses feature special polarized lenses so that each eye only sees that part of the picture meant for it. Not only does this make the glasses lighter, more affordable, and more comfortable, it offers a wider viewing angle and smoother picture. Passive 3D is the same technology used in 3D movie theaters. Because of its numerous advantages, passive 3D systems like LG's Cinema 3D TV are actually preferred 3 to 1 by movie-watchers. So as you shop for a new 3DTV, remember that not all 3D is created equal.
What's in the box?

Awesome TV! Got it for my husband and it is every bit as good as Consumer Reports testing results suggested. We are long time Sony loyalists but to save $1000 and get as good a product is a verygood thing!

I have always been a Sony snob. Now Im not. This tv performs as well or better than any Sony Ive ever owned. Easy to set up including picture calibration. The picture is second to none - 3D is a bonus and true value, especially when compared to others which require expensive electronic 3D glasses. I highly recommend this product.

Id been threatening to go HD for awhile and now that I have, my new LG brings me high definition in all its splendor. Comparing different HD TVs on display at a local retailer I settled on LG as having the best picture and features by far. I checked out TVs at Amazon and found that Vanns was offering a deal, so I bought TWO HDs... a 47 for the master bedroom and a 55 for the great room. I was able to set up both with relative ease even to the point of lifting the units to the top of my four foot entertainment cabinets by myself. The picture is sparkling... and now all of my streaming video goes on the big screen instead of my laptop. All of this... and just in time for holiday football. OH BOY!!!

Clearest picture on any TV I have ever owned. Least glare of any TV I have ever seen. The 3D is very good.
Of all the TVs my wife ,my children, and I looked at we said LG had the best picture, best 3D, and NO GLARE.
The SMART feature is super. LG makes a great TV. I have owned or still own Sony, Pioneer, INSIGNIA, and Philips TVs, but my new LG is by far the best TV I have .
A friend who just bought a Samsung TV was upset when he came over and watched my TV. He could not believe how much better the picture was. He also noticed that my LG had no glare and was in a room lighted more than where he has his TV. He now wishes he had researched LG instead of purchasing a TV recommended by a sales person.

This is a lot of tv for the price point. 2D picture is great and if you have children passive 3D is the way to go. Small loss in resolution is a small price to pay for ease of use. Smart tv features are cool too! I know there are technically better LEDs out there but this is pretty close for the price.
