Samsung has been an industry leader in the plasma field, working to perfect their plasma screen with each generation of new technology. They are currently on their fifth cycle. Setting the benchmark for contrast and brightness, the newest plasma panel offered by Samsung and available in the HPS4273 has been engineered to enhance the on-screen brilliance for maximum effect. Its 10,000:1 contrast ratio and 1,300 cd/m2 brightness are among the highest in the industry. Add to that the new 13-bit processing capability of DNIe, which means the HPS4273 can produce over 549 billion colors. Compare that to many of the 10-bit processors on the market today that just produce one billion colors. Picture Perfect
When it comes to displaying pictures how you want to see them, Samsung TVs get the job done. Built-in analog tuners allow you to connect with an RF signal cable directly to the set and watch "regular" TV right out of the box, or use the integrated ATSC tuner to pick up high definition programs broadcast over the air. Split screen and PIP (Picture-in-Picture) with small, large, and split modes give you various options for watching multiple programming on the same screen at the same time. The HPS4273's wide screen aspect ratio means your screen is filled with DVD and HDTV images which are increasingly available and presented in wide screen formats. On-board aspect ratio controls allow for handling analog 4:3 sources as well, in standard, wide screen, zoom 1 and zoom 2 modes.

The HPS4273 includes HDMI connections which allow for the transmission of both video and audio digital signals through a single cable for higher quality and fewer wires. You can connect your DVD and DTV sources with two smart component video (Y/Pb/Pr) inputs that accept 480i/480p/720p/1080i signals. You also get S-Video and composite video inputs, along with optical and coaxial digital audio outputs for transferring high-quality sound. What's more, the HPS4273 can also function as a PC monitor thanks to PC inputs.
