There's a lot of jargon these days about DVD formats and what's compatible with what. Sony has made things easier by designing the RDRVX530 DVD recorder to provide DVD+RW/+RW, DVD-RW/-R, and DVD+R DL Format Recording Compatibility. One great thing that multiple format recording gives you is the ability to record a DVD that you know will play in a specified DVD player. In other words, you can call up your relatives and ask them what formats their DVD player is compatible with, then create a family reunion DVD that you know will play in their machine. No more guesswork. So while the rest of the industry decides which formats they prefer, Sony has decided to deliver them all. And of course when someone gives you a DVD they've burned themselves, you can be pretty sure that it will play in the RDRVX530.

Recording Made Easy

Recording on this DVD recorder is a bit different that your old VCR. Record to DVD from your television and you'll see the difference digital technology makes. Variable Bit Rate Recording adds flexibilty when recording your favorite programs. A Timer Recording function means the RDRVX530 will capture your favorite show when you can't be around to watch it. Additionally, recording is super easy with One Button Dubbing from VCR to DVD (or vice versa), and you can record up to 6 DVD hours (SLP).

Power Processing

In addition to recording material on the RDRVX530, you can also play your favorite DVD material for your viewing pleasure. Powerful processors and Dolby Digital/DTS outputs help the RDRVX530 deliver outstanding images and sound through your home theater system. Your DVD picture will be reproduced as close to the original movie as possible. Watching DVD movies is a pleasure, especially with an easy to use Graphic User Interface, lending a helping hand as you set up and use the features on your new DVD recorder.

The included Remote Commander remote control operates both devices and activates one-touch dubbing, which copies the entire contents of a MiniDV or Digital8 tape with the press of a single button.
