The DVDLS55 can play a variety of audio and video disc formats, including DVD-Audio (2-Channel), DVD-Video, DVD-RAM, DVD-R, HighMAT (Level 2), CD, CD-R/RW, including MP3, JPEG, and WMA files. The new standard for super high-fidelity sound, DVD-Audio discs provide multiple channel stereo, incredible storage capacity, and unique bonus materials not available on regular audio CDs. DVD-RAM playback gives you the ability to watch DVD-RAM and DVD-R discs created on a Panasonic DVD recorder. These formats give you long-lasting storage capabilities for all of your favorite video footage.
Good At Home, Too
This DVD player is just as good at home, as it is on the road, too. This DVD player does double duty because you can use the A/V output to connect it to your TV. It even has an optical digital audio output so you can hook it up to your surround sound receiver and play Dolby Digital and DTS soundtracks through it. The DVDLS55 is equipped with a built-in widescreen LCD monitor for clear, high-resolution DVD images on the go. The LCD even allows you to watch movies in the standard 16:9 widescreen format or conventional 4:3 formats such as letterbox and pan-and-scan. The DVDLS55 comes equipped with a diagonal 7-inch screen. Freestyle LCD Display means it can be manually adjusted to a variety of different angles that can accommodate a wide range of viewing positions.

The included rechargeable battery included for the DVDLS55 neatly fits in the main unit. This allows for the thin, stylish body of this portable DVD player to remain intact when using the battery, which provides a whopping 10 hours of viewing time after each charge. The DVDLS55 also allows for the connection of a second headphone with dual jacks. This is great when you've got two kids who both want to listen and you don't want to mediate taking turns. Or even better, use the built-in FM transmitter on the unit to send the sound from your portable DVD player through your car's speakers so everyone can hear it! And when you're about to run out of juice, the built-in recharger function means you just have to connect a battery pack to the player, plug in the AC adapter, and start recharging.

You can adjust the picture size displayed on your DVD player's LCD screen to best represent the picture format (standard 4:3, 16:9 widescreen) of the software that you're viewing. Advanced Surround (V.S.S.) simulates a surround sound effect using only the front two speakers, so you can enjoy Dolby Digital 5.1 channel discs without an elaborate home theater system. Hi Speed Smooth Scan enables fast-forward/reverse at up to 200 times normal speed. This lets you scan a two-hour movie in 40 seconds, offering a quick way to access desired scenes.
