You'll be able to shoot 4.5 frames-per-second, use a Live View display, and capture video using the 720p movie mode. To be truly creative, you need complete manual control, and the D90 has options across the board. For example, you get comprehensive exposure control with Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority, and Manual options. You also get exclusive in-camera editing featuring Fisheye effect, Straighten and Distortion Control, as well as D-lighting, Red-eye Reduction, Image Overlay, Monochrome, and more. Plus, the flash comes with options, too, such as advanced wireless lighting control.

An automatic wonder

But, the Nikon D90 also comes loaded with auto features so that you can stay involved in the action while you shoot your masterpieces. The 11-point AF system with face priority consistently produces fast and accurate autofocus. The Auto Active D-Lighting optimizes details within shadows and highlights, taming high-contrast situations in real time. The Nikon 3D Color Matrix Metering II with Scene Recognition System evaluates images, referencing an on-board database of over 30,000 photographic scenes, for unmatched exposure accuracy.

Durable, high-precision shutter

With the high-precision shutter, you'll get continuous shooting as fast as 4.5 frames-per-second. Combined with fast 0.15ms power-up and split-second 65ms shooting lag, dramatic action and decisive moments are captured easily. Plus, your shutter has been tested to last at least 100,000 cycles, which assures long shutter life and accuracy.

GPS geo-tagging optional accessory

Geo-tagging is when geographical information is added to your photograph, such as the latitude and longitude coordinates. Also able to mark altitude, bearing, and place names, geo-tagging can help users find a variety of location-specific information. For example, using an optional GPS accessory (sold separately), the D90 could take a picture of Mount Sentinal and share its exact coordinates with the world. The GPS accessory lets you tag the photo with its coordinates, so you can later upload it to an online map. Someone else will then be able to click on that location on the map, and select your picture to see an actual photo of Mount Sentinal at its exact coordinates. Geo-tagging is a popular hobby, and many high-end cameras come with the ability to add a GP-1 GPS unit.
