AVCHD (Advanced Video Coding High Definition) has become the preferred and will become the standard for professional camcorders. AVCHD can be used for encoding Blu-ray discs, so footage captured by the XA10 can be converted to a Blu-Ray, as well as to H.264 format, ideal for uploading video on web. The XA10's 10x lens delivers a wide, flexible zoom range (35mm equivalent range 30.4mm-304mm) and a distinguished background thanks to an 8-blade iris. If you're shooting a subject you don't want to see you, perhaps for a documetary or impromptu investigation, the infrared mode allows you to capture video in little or no light in the infrared mode. Instead of lighting your subject or settling for a dark, blurry image, set the infrared mode. The infrared mode allows infrared light to pass through the image sensor by removing the infrared cutoff filter from the optical path. If you want to be a detective or shoot a horror film, this infrared setting will be perfect for discovering or manipulating the truth. A cinema-shooting mode allows you to capture movies in a particular style: for instance, black-and-white, sepia, classic cinema standard, dream, memory, nostalgia, cool, vivid, and dramatic B&W, meaning a monochromatic setting with high contrast and graininess. The XA10's 3.5" LCD monitor allows a 100% field of view and includes touch focus, touch exposure, touch and track for movement, and focus assist functions that help you control all the details for the perfect take.
