Where It All Begins
At the heart of the Lifestyle® 28 Series II system is a super-stylish media center that's packed with features. So many features that it's hard to believe it can all exist in a space about the size of a notebook computer. The media center includes an integrated progressive scan DVD player and AM/FM tuner and provides access to more of today's popular audio and video content, including DVD, DVD-R, CD, CD-R/RW, PCM, Digital 5.1, MP3 on CD and MPEG-2. This one unit elegantly accomplishes everything that conventional home theater systems use multiple components to achieve. But it's also the hub of a whole-home entertainment system, made possible by Bose® link home networking technology. This technology allows you to connect compatible Bose® products to your Lifestyle® 28 system for sound in as many as 14 additional rooms, even outdoors. With Bose® link technology, you can have independent volume control in each room, as well as access to two different audio streams from the same Lifestyle® system.
Great All-Around Sound
If you really want to become enveloped in sound, Bose® has assembled just the package to do it. Improved proprietary bass technology in the Acoustimass® module reproduces the clarity of pure, deep bass down to the lowest frequencies, even at the loudest levels. Turn it up and you won't lose a bit of performance. With bass so natural and pure that its source is almost impossible to localize, you can hide the module out of sight, behind furniture or in a corner. All the sound seems to come from the tiny cube speakers. The cube speakers are another wonderful advancement from Bose. They feature revolutionary Direct/Reflecting® speaker technology to create an exceptionally wide soundstage in the listening area. These cube speakers can be swiveled, allowing you to reflect sound off the walls as well as project it directly into the room. The speakers immerse you in a surround sound experience similar to what you'd get in a movie theater. The result is full, spacious sound throughout the room, not just in one small "sweet spot." All from speakers about the size of a coffee mug.
Revealing Our Sources
With digital 5.1 decoding and Videostage® 5 decoding circuitry, most anything you choose to watch incorporates the lifelike elements of five-channel surround sound, even VHS tapes and older mono television programs. Digital 5.1 decoding provides six channels of crystal clear digital surround sound from 5.1 channel encoded sources, like DVDs. You hear much of the dialogue from left, center and right in front of you. Separate or "discrete" left and right surround channels on the side or in the rear help create atmosphere and ambiance. The .1 (or bass effects) channel delivers low-frequency sound that adds impact to action and special effects sequences. While digital 5.1 encoding takes the home theater experience to a new level, you can enjoy it only from properly encoded materials like DVDs, digital satellite broadcasts and HDTV. Unlike conventional digital systems, Bose Videostage 5 decoding circuitry gives you a five-channel surround sound experience from everything you listen to; VHS tapes, stereo CDs, even mono TV programs.
A Remote That Works From Remote Locations
Bose's universal radio frequency (RF) remote provides complete system control; CD/DVD, AM/FM, source selection, and volume functions. It works through walls and floors without pointing or aiming. The remote works on radio frequencies rather than an infrared beam and combines with the media center for total system control integration. A radio frequency receiver is built into the media center for exclusive communication with the Bose remote. The infrared (IR) control system includes an infrared receiver and an infrared transmitter, allowing the media center to retransmit operating commands from the radio frequency Bose remote to the infrared-based video components, such as a TV or cable box. So, in addition to all the amazing things your Bose Lifestyle® system can do on its own, it also has the potential for controlling your entire A/V system.
Intelligent Set Up
From premium performance to elegance, the Lifestyle® 28 Series II DVD system is made for your room, with all its unique characteristics. It includes the ADAPTiQ audio calibration system to deliver a consistent surround sound presentation in any room, while offering greater freedom of speaker placement. This proprietary technology analyzes and adjusts your Lifestyle® system's sound to your room's dimensions, speaker placement and preferred seating locations. In a matter of minutes, you'll have Bose quality sound the way you like it. Nice and easy.
