The SCDCE595 Super Audio CD player can play single layer, two channel, and multi-channel Super Audio CDs that are playable only on an SACD player. This advanced audio format comes directly from Direct Stream Digital (DSD) recording technology. DSD's recording and playback methods result in a frequency response of over 100kHz and a dynamic range over 120dB across the audible frequency range. Additionally, the sampling frequency is 64 times greater than conventional CDs and creates wider frequency and dynamic ranges. This means the resolution of the music more closely follows the original wave form of the music for a reproduction that is extremely accurate and much more like the original source than standard CDs. But, this unit doesn't only play SACDs. Due to its Dual Laser Optical Pickup, it also plays standard music CDs, CD-Rs and CD-RWs so you'll have lots of flexibility with your playlist.Audio Superiority

In addition to exceptional sound quality through the DSD system, the SACD format can accommodate more than four times the information of the current CD format. With this extra capacity, a standard Super Audio CD will provide space for 2-channel stereo data, as well as an area for up to 6-track multi-channel data, storage capacity for text and images, disc variations, copyright protection and much more. SACD multi-channel sound can contain as many as six separate channels, each captured on disc at the full DSD bit rate with the full DSD sound quality. Some producers will use the added channels to faithfully reproduce the precise acoustic signature of the performance space. Others will realize new creative possibilities, immersing the listener in a 360 degree field of sound. Multi-channel SACD takes its place beside stereo SACD as another compelling way to enjoy music.
Audio Simplicity
To make things easy for you, this SACD unit automatically recognizes the type of disc you insert and it routes the audio signal to one of the two sets of analog audio outputs. There's a 2-channel SACD, which has only 2-channels of information. When playing a 2-channel SACD disc, the player automatically sets itself to a 2-channel playback, and the music output comes only from the left and right front channels. Or, if you put in a 3-6 multi-channel disc the player automatically changes its playback format, and audio is directed through the 5.1-channel analog outputs. If however, you play a 2-channel and Multi-channel disc that has both types of audio information, you can choose the playback format-even by remote.
