The HK3490 is where traditional features such as a high-performance phono preamp, pre-out/main-in jacks and high-current amplification meet the present and future with video switching, a subwoofer output and a cable for direct audio/video connection to an iPod player or MP3 player. The HK3490 offers the best in traditional analog two-channel audio, including a 30-preset AM/FM tuner, and integrated phono preamplifier for enjoying your vinyl library and a tape monitor loop that lets you listen to your tape recordings as they're being made when used with a three-head tape deck. Whether it comes from a turntable, the built-in tuner or a portable player, your music never sounded better.

Connected With Quality

If high-performance audio reproduction weren't enough, Harman Kardon added composite video switching. Use the included audio/video cable to connect your iPod (not included) or other portable players to the HD3490, or just enjoy your favorite television programs in stereo without firing up your main home theater. Whether listening to an LP record pressed last century or watching a movie you downloaded to your digital media player last night, you new HK3490 delivers the powerful, detailed performance you've come to expect from Harman Kardon.

High-Current, Ultrawide Bandwidth

Harman Kardon's high-current, ultrawide bandwidth, amplifier topology with discrete output devices reproduces music with unmatched sonic accuracy and dynamic power. The HK3490's high-current capability enables it to effortlessly drive even difficult loudspeaker loads, while the ultra wide bandwidth provides far superior phase linearity, lower distortion, greater high-frequency headroom and more accurate frequency response in the audible range. So, even when there are wide swings in the sound, or there is a lot happening all at once, you will hear it all the way the artist intended.

While the sophisticated Harman Kardon systems are hard at work within the HK3490 to bring you all that glorious sound, hookup and operation remain simple. You get the ease of color-keyed connections and a comprehensive remote control that makes you ruler over your system but doesn't require an engineering degree to operate.

This receiver is ready for The Bridge and XM Radio

iPod and Harman Kardon: two names synonymous with music playback, ease of control, and elegant design. Now, The Bridge literally links the two, allowing you to share the favorite tracks and playlists stored on your iPod with anyone in listening range of a compatible Harman Kardon AVR -- even in a connected second room. Dock your iPod in The Bridge, then sit back and operate it with the AVR's remote control while on-screen and front-panel menus guide your track selections. The Bridge also charges the iPod while you use it. (The Bridge is sold separately.) (So is the XM Radio subscription required to receive special XM programming.)
