Everything you want and more
The LG 65LW6500 LED 3D HDTV has it all, and then some. This 65" beauty features a 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution with LED backlighting and local dimming for incredible contrast and detail. There are plenty of different picture modes, and Picture Wizard II and ISFccc-readiness ensure that your picture is fine-tuned to be "just right," while an Intelligent Sensor adjusts the brightness based on your room's lighting so the picture maintains optimal brightness, day or night. The sensor also helps save energy, leading the 65LW6500 to earn ENERGY STAR certification. But this LED LCD has much more to offer. It's also a 3D TV, so you can enjoy the latest Full HD 3D Blu-rays. It will even upconvert 2D content to artificial 3D, and the LW6500 will let you adjust the depth on your 3D so it looks natural to you. Four pairs of 3D glasses are even included! The included Wi-Fi adapter gives you even more entertainment options. DLNA certification lets you access media from other devices (like PCs) on your home network. But the fun really starts with Smart TV and the LG App Store. Smart TV offers instant streaming from a wide variety of top content providers for movies, TV, music, and even photos. Meanwhile, the LG App Store lets you download a variety of fun and useful Apps to your TV, from social networking to entertainment to informative Apps. With this TV, your entertainment options are virtually limitless!
Not all 3D is created equal
The LG LW6500 Series utilizes passive 3D technology to create the 3D effect. With passive 3D, rather than having two separate pictures per frame, one frame is shown with the pictures for both the right and left eyes. The glasses feature special polarized lenses so that each eye only sees that part of the picture meant for it. Not only does this make the glasses lighter, more affordable, and more comfortable, it offers a wider viewing angle and smoother picture. Passive 3D is the same technology used in 3D movie theaters. Because of its numerous advantages, passive 3D systems like LG's Cinema 3D TV are actually preferred 3 to 1 by movie-watchers. So as you shop for a new 3DTV, remember that not all 3D is created equal.
What's in the box?

Bought this TV to replace an aging Mitsubishi 65” Rear Projection TV that still works, but would not die. Further we wanted to increase the pace in our living room as the old 65” TV was a huge monster. We got all that we wanted and more. First, the LG 65” TV is thin. I easily wall mounted it in about a half a day, and that is with running power up the wall and also running the other cables in the wall as to hide them. From start to finish, it took me about 6 hour’s total. Actual time to hang the TV was about an hour. Let me say though that the TV itself is HEAVY. Weighing in at about 95 pounds without the stand so ensure you have someone there to help you. With that, on to the TV. The TV has an excellent picture. Very clear and the viewing angles are wide. It does have some white bleed from the corners if you are not looking at it square on, but those are minimal, and reviewing the product, will probably go away. Ease of use gets a “4” due to it is a wee bit complex to navigate through, but once you learn it, it is easy to do. The screen and picture quality are awesome. Know that this series is known for its 240hz BUT this TV for whatever reason is only 120hz. Weird, but it does not make too much of a difference. You can adjust the setting son the picture to best use the TV as you like and switching from one input to another is easy as well. The Sound is ok, not the best but ok. That being said, I have the TV run through my Yamaha stereo tuner and use the surround sound from that to watch TV and Movies. BUT the thing that sucks is the Audio out is limited and so if you stream videos, like say from NETFLIX, you can’t processes them through the Stereo. You have to use the TV. That was a letdown. GAMING HUGE BAD MARKS HERE! I have an XBOX 360 and hooked it up to the TV. I had read that there was some LAG time on this TV, but searches for fixes stated to use the “PC” or the “Gaming” settings on the TV and that would resolve it. It didn’t. The lag times on games where you can’t adjust the lag are bad enough to not want to play on this TV. Further, on games where you can adjust for the lag, I was getting 167ms video and 57ms sound lag times. It just made the games frustrating. I will not be using this TV for gaming, which is a bit of a disappointment. 2D and 3D The 2D picture, as stated, is awesome. I watch movies, sports and news most of the time. It performs well for that and more. The new Passive 3D is simply awesome. It really makes the TV worth the money. I did not buy the TV looking for a 3D TV but it is a huge plus. Further, you can take normal 2D telecasts and “Upscale” them to 3D! Nothing like watching sports in 3D. I do not have a 3D Blu-Ray player so I cannot comment on how well actual made for 3D movies are. Further, I have cable and don’t have ESPN 3D so I have no comment there either. Overall have had the TV now for a few days and it is wonderful. Couple of issues in the sound and the gaming, but overall the TV is well worth it as a purchase. You will not be disappointed.

I love this unit. It has great 2D picture the 2D to 3D is also great, The passive 3D is the best on the planet....Ill just say this, I looked around for the best bang for my buck and trust me this is the one that will get the job done! Yes, You can spend more....But why? The sound is weak but I use my Bose system so that does not factor in on any of my review, Im sure most people that want a Smart TV this size will be using some type of sound system. The WiFi connection was a snap HINT update this unit right out of the box! I am very pleased with this unit It is my first LG but if it ends as well as it has started....It wont be my last.

We purchased the LG TV but realized it was not the picture quality and sound quality we had hoped to receive. We talked to the sales associate who was very helpful offering setting suggestions to help remedy the issues. After making adjustments we still did not have the quality we expected and the associate was more than happy to accept this TV as a return for a different TV Sony Bravia for which we are very pleased.

Bought the 65LW6500 two weeks ago and have loved every second of it. The TV happened to be on sale that week for an incredible discount as an added bonus. The picture is extremely clear. We have it hooked up to an LG Blue Ray player as well as a media center, a separate PC, PlayStation 3, and a WII and the performance on each in incredible. You will definitely want to have the TV set to the game setting when using the game consoles. The 2D-3D conversion works suprisingly well. Sound is just okay so you will want to hook this up to a home theater system. Little disaapointed that there is no picture in picture setting but other than that you cant go wrong with this tv.

Have had the TV for 2 weeks...no issues, problems, or concerns. The picture is awesome. If you buy this TV, buy the sound bar and sub-woofer, as the sound from the TV is tinny. Set up took less than 15 minutes and the documentation with the product is more than adequate.

I would highly recommend this 3D tv. I have looked and compared the top models and chose this one for its large size, its passive 3D and the LED is super bright and looks great in my main room that has a lot of windows. The 3D looks amazing and the glasses are cheap and theater glasses work with it instead of the $150pair with active 3D sets. From my own comparison, the plasma sets had too much glare from a highly reflective screen and similar companies 3D that came in 65 inch screen only had active 3D that had costly glasses that require batteries. We received 10 set of glasses with this TV and collect the glasses from the theater for the kid sizes with little kids- no worry if they get broke. I have not tried the internet functions on it yet - but as for the TV, 3D Movies, video games, it is amazing.

Having 3D passive technology that does NOT require bulky and expensive 3D active glasses anymore, currently this is the only choice for over 60 inch 3D Passive TV. However, both 2D and 3D picture quality are impressive and adequate with 120Hz refresh rate. The built-in LAN port or the usb wireless adapter that comes with it, are easy to configure which automatically downloaded and upgraded to the latest firmware. Then on, connecting to internet was a breeze. Also, the multiple HDMI ports really helped connecting DirectTV receiver and LG 3D Blue Ray player. In compare to my previous Sony 60 or the other Samsung 46, it surely dissipates much less heat. Overall, this should serve well until the next generation 3D without glasses is out.
