This package includes a center speaker with dual 3" woofers and a 0.5" tweeter, two front speakers with 2.5" woofers and 0.5" tweeters, and two surround speakers with 2.5" woofers and 0.5" tweeters. Last, but certainly not least, is the 100-watt subwoofer that gives muscle to low-end sounds. The YHT-395 is iPod/iPhone and Bluetooth ready (with purchase of the YDS-12 Universal Dock and YBA-10 wireless receiver). But the best parts are those you don't see. Surround yourself in realistic sound compliments of the 192 kHz/24-bit Burr Brown DACS as well as the high dynamic power, low-impedance drive capability. And enjoy the latest and greatest in video entertainment thanks to the HDMI 1.4 3D capabilities.
Cinema DSP and SILENT CINEMA
Conventional multichannel audio reproduction systems base their sound on Dolby Digital and DTS decoding, using matrix and steering technologies to create surround sound effects. Yamaha CINEMA DSP is much more advanced, actually creating richly realized independent sound fields that envelop you in an unmatched surround sound experience. With dialogue, music and effects ideally located in these separate sound fields, you will hear sound with accurate placement, smooth movement, exceptional clarity and richness, and startlingly realistic presence. It will seem as if the walls of your room have disappeared and you are in the middle of your own immense theater. The decoding circuitry performs Dolby TrueHD / dtsHD Master / dtsHD High Resolution / Dolby Digital Plus decoding with extreme accuracy, as well as all digital sound field processing. SILENT CINEMA makes it possible to hear large-scale surround sound through ordinary headphones. This is a variation of CINEMA DSP technology that Yamaha developed to let you listen in private to movies and other multi-channel sources without listening fatigue.

when i first hooked this sytem up and turned on, i had no sound. Panic!!! then i read the manual and went through the set-up routine. Since I was using HDMI cables, I reset the HDMI option and the most amazing sound came out. This is in a 24 x 25 ft room with cathedral ceilings and it sounds wonderful in suround mode. I am very pleased with this entry level Home Theater. It seems to support the latest BluRay and 3D thru technolodgy so i can just update my DVD player or TV to 3D inthe future. I also needed an earphone jack so i wont disturb others in the house that dont care for the action movies i like.

Yamaha 5.1 receiversurround sound system works great and is a good value for the price. The Yamaha system has a good range of individual receiver and speaker adjustments. Quality seems very good and sounds are clear.
