Induction cooking heats things faster. Induction cooking uses less energy than either gas or electrical elements. Induction cooking is safer because it heats the pot directly. Induction cooking has more precise heat control than electric. Induction cooking does not warm the air around the stove, making the room temperature stay more comfortable. Therefore, the induction range top used by the FTQ307NWGX from Samsung is an attractive method for cooking.

Ferrous boilers stay on

Thereâ€™s a lot of techno-babble that goes into explaining how induction cooking actually works — weâ€™ll do our best. Induction cooking uses an alternating current passed through a coil of wire that creates a changing magnetic field. When a pot thatâ€™s considered magnetic (such as iron or steel) is put over the field, an electrical current (called an eddy current) creates energy that dissipates into the pot in the form of heat. The glass top is insulated to make sure that heat created by the pot is spread out (so that anywhere the pot isnâ€™t, doesnâ€™t become scorching hot). Samsung adds a few additional safety features, including a sensor that will shut down a burner after 60 seconds if no compatible cooking vessel is sensed on it. A hot surface light will let you know if a recently used element is still hot (since some of that quickly produced heat will transfer just underneath the pot or pan), and easy swipe controls let you quickly adjust temperature with one simple motion.

Oven easy

With all the talk about the induction cook top, the oven may seem to be playing second fiddle. No chance of that though, Samsung has made sure that itâ€™s easily able to keep up. Three fans allow heated air to be evenly distributed throughout the oven for even convection baking, and a six pass broiling element lets you create dishes that are uniquely yours. For the avid baker, the oven also has a proofing mode for breads and rolls. Three chrome racks with seven possible rack positions in the 5.9 cu. ft. space let you cook at almost any size, and a widescreen oven window let you keep an eye on your food. Cleaning is made simple thanks to Samsungâ€™s SteamQuick system cleans your oven in just 20 minutes at 140°F, saving you energy on two fronts.

Just warming up

The FTQ307NWGX isnâ€™t finished just yet. A warming drawer lets you cook larger meals without having to worry bout things going cold. Three settings allow you to keep a variety of dishes at their ideal temperatures (and has an auto-shut off after 3 hours — you know, just in case).
