Inductive reasoning
If you're not familiar with induction cooking, you may be wondering why you want an induction burner instead of gas or electric. But let us assure you that the reasoning behind making the switch to induction is solid. A gas burner will use the flame from natural gas to heat the bottom of our pot. Electric burners, on the other hand, use electricity to heat a coil your pot sits on. Some have a glass or ceramic top over the burner, but they all work the same way. Induction, on the other hand, uses magnetism to heat your cookware. This might sound a little far-out, but give it a chance. If you've got cookware made of ferrous metal (at least enough to stick a magnet to the bottom), induction is amazing. It will only heat where it has contact with the pot, so if your hand touches the edge of the burner while you're boiling water, you're not left with an awful burn for weeks to come. Since it only heats where the pan is, it's much more efficient than gas or electric, saving natural resources and utility expenses. While typical fuel sources are about 50% efficient with their heat, induction is about 90% efficient. But induction is also far more responsive than other methods of cooking. It can bring water to a boil up to 50% faster than other power sources, but if you turn the heat down, the water will also drop to a simmer much quicker. Additionally, the cooktop surface cools down significantly faster than that of other models. And since it's a smoothtop, clean-up is a cinch, especially since your food won't cook on if it spills over. Easier, safer, quicker, easier, more responsive, more efficient, and comparably priced — what's not to love about induction?
Cooking to go
So, induction is a great thing, but wouldn't a single burner be a bit, you know, unpractical? After all, what if you need to cook vegetables and boil water for cocoa at the same time? If these sound like great questions to you, we've got great answers. The SPI isn't intended to entirely replace your cooktop. After all, you want multiple burners, and there's a good chance that your cooktop is attached to your oven, so swapping it out for an induction set just isn't feasible. Instead, this product is intended to work in addition to your existing cooktop. Sure, you can use it whenever you need to heat something up. Why wouldn't you want to? But if you need to cook multiple dishes, your old cooktop is always there. The uses for the SPI go beyond that, though. Since it uses a standard outlet, you can plug it in whenever you need an extra burner, but its small size makes it easy to bring with you. So, you could bring it outside for a backyard party, or even use it to keep soup hot while it's being served. You could even use it to add a presentation element to serving your meals. The possibilities are nearly limitless! But whatever option your choose, you're sure to love this induction burner.
