The Panasonic DMP-BDT310 is so much more than a simple Blu-ray player. Sure, it gives you incredible 1080p picture quality with a single HDMI cable for your favorite movies (even the amazing 3D ones), and sends the latest audio codecs via HDMI to your home theater system for incredible sound quality. But unlike other Blu-ray players, it can do both at the exact same time. If your receiver isn't 3D-capable, the BDT310 makes it possible to get high-quality sound and high-quality picture without having to sacrifice your amazing 3D picture quality. Plus, built-in Wi-Fi gives you even more entertainment options, letting you connect to your home network wirelessly and stream movies from Netflix, YouTube, VUDU, and other services. You can even connect to services like Twitter and Facebook, letting you keep your friends and followers updated on the latest news. "Skype me"

Skype has been one of the greatest innovations in tech in the past few decades. It allows you to keep in touch with friends and family across the street or across the globe through IM, telephone, or even video chatting. But until now it's had one major flaw: you have to be at your computer to use it. Panasonic's DMP-BDT310 is changing the story, though, as one of the first Blu-ray players with Skype compatibility. With a separately-purchased compatible camera, you can videochat with those near to your heart from the comfort of your couch — even if they're nowhere near you geographically. A special button on the remote gives you quick access to the Skype menu and incoming ringtones alert you when someone's calling (unless you're watching a Blu-ray). For the times when you're not there, you can record a message on an SD card (sold separately) to greet callers, and they can record a video voice mail on the same card. Having Skype in your home theater may just be the most convenient, comfortable way to keep in touch. One note, though: Depending on your use of Skype, some charges may apply.
