Touch control
You're attracted to a digital point-and-shoot camera for its combination of high-performance shooting and simple operation. After all, if it's a Panasonic camera, its advanced shooting modes automatically configure settings for optimal photos under a variety of shooting conditions. The only thing that gets in your way, however, are the teeny-tiny buttons and awkward dials most digital cameras offer as controls. It's time to spend less time fiddling with buttons and more time focusing on the shot. It's time for the DMC-FP3 with touchscreen control. First off, at a wide 3.0" in size, the DMC-FP3's LCD display offers a clear, vibrant platform for composing and reviewing all your shots. But then . . . thanks to its static-sensor touchscreen operation, the LCD display lets you take full control of most of the major operations, from focusing and shooting photos, to recording video, to playing back still shots or footage. Control your digital photography experience with the touch of a finger.
Slim and speedy
Hey, you're no professional photographer. You don't have — and don't want — a lighting crew following you around everywhere you go. And you know what, that's okay. For you, being "on assignment" means hanging out with friends on a Friday night, going to your niece's birthday party, or a little R&R hiking in the woods. Accordingly, you need something compact and portable, quite unlike a lighting crew. You need the DMC-FP3 from Panasonic. Employing advanced Folded Optics Technology, this Lumix digital camera is able to house a powerful 35-140mm lens with 4x optical zoom entirely within in the camera body, with no protrusions whatsoever. This means that the DMC-FP3 fits snugly into everything from a purse to a pant pocket. Simply slide the cover away from the compact lens, and the camera powers on. Then you're ready to immediately begin snapping stunning, high-resolution 14.1-megapixel photos. Further, for enhanced shooting performance, the DMC-FP3's Sonic Speed auto focusing system zeroes in on moving subjects in just 0.33 seconds, ensuring clear, crisp shots automatically.
Intelligent. Automatic. Lumix.
The true test of any digital point-and-shoot camera is fun. Not the fun you have taking photos, however. We're talking about all the fun you're having hanging out with friends, tackling the great outdoors, or journeying on a road trip . . . and not even thinking about your camera's settings. Automatic shooting features keep you in the moment and in the action, allowing you to document everything perfectly without missing a beat. And when it comes to automatic shooting, Panasonic's Lumix DMC-FP3 delivers . . . big time. Presenting Intelligent Auto from Panasonic. This technology combines six detection and correction functions to deliver clear, beautiful images, every time. While Auto Focus tracking locks onto and maintains focus on moving subjects, optical image stabilization reduces image blur. Digital red-eye correction and Face Detection combine to produce stunning portraits, and Intelligent ISO control helps optimize exposure under different lighting conditions. Finally, an Intelligent Scene Selector automatically configures camera settings for a variety of common shooting conditions. Get going.
Go big or go home
One thing defines the Panasonic DMC-FH1 — expanded performance. First off, leaving the previous model in the dust, the DMC-FP3's 1/2.33" CCD image sensor serves up a high 14.1-megapixel capture resolution. As evidence that you won't miss a single detail or nuance in your shot, consider that a resolution this high allows you to enlarge prints beyond 8" x 10" without sacrificing any detail. Second, a LUMIX DC VARIO lens with a 35mm - 140mm focal length delivers both standard-format and mid-range telephoto shooting capabilities. Combine this with a 4x optical zoom, and you're able to capture expansive intimate images of distant subjects. Finally, a broad ISO sensitivity range — up to ISO 6400 in High Sensitivity mode! — makes it possible to shoot clear, well-exposed photos in low-light conditions.
Beyond great photos . . . HD!
We realize that you might think we're kidding, here. But, rest assured, we are not. Not only does the Lumix DMC-FP3 equip you to capture vivid and detailed still photos effortlessly, but it also gives you the ability to record high definition video. Simply select Movie mode and instantly begin recording footage in multiple resolutions, including high definition 1280 x 720p. now you can create engaging multimedia shows highlighting your latest adventure.
Rock steady
Get ready to bid camera-shake blur adieu. Whether you enjoy shooting pristine landscapes, wildlife, sports or candid moments at gatherings with friends, the excitement of the shot can get to even the most seasoned of photographers, putting even just a teeny shake in an otherwise steady hand. The unfortunate result? Blurry memories and fuzzy moments. Enter Panasonic's MEGA Optical Image Stabilizer, featured on the DMC-FP3 digital camera. A built-in gyrosensor detects any hand movement during a shot, and then sends a signal to the camera's microcomputer. After calculating the necessary compensation, the microcomputer shifts the optical image stabilizer to guide the incoming light from the subject directly and cleanly to the CCD image sensor. Your get all of your DMC-FSP3's 14.1 megapixels devoted to sharp, clear detail and not to blur and fuzz.

I already owned a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8, a larger more SLR-like camera with a 12X zoom on it and have enjoyed using it for the past 3 years but Im going to be traveling out of the country and was looking for something small and light-weight so I purchased the newer model DMC-FP3 a few weeks ago and and have been impressed with the pictures Ive taken so far. The auto setting modes work great - Ive taken group portraits as well as landscapes in their particular mode settings and they turned out great, in fact clearer than my larger more expensive camera. Other pluses about this camera the touch screen where you can also touch where in your view-finder you want your focal point to be and switches from the traditional center to where you touched it, the macro setting for close-ups is excellent Lumix cameras all have this ability - my wifes very expensive Canon doesnt take as good of Macro shots as this little camera, the image stabilizing ability is very good, and the burst setting which takes as many as 5 rapid shots allows you to catch moving objects very well although not always clearly, and finally the controls are fairly simple and easy to figure out. The negatives are few but the touch screen controls can be difficult to get used to at first - it is not as sensitive as my cell phone screen for example so had to be pressed harder and the scrolling feature when looking at your stored images does not work very well often taking several passes of your finger to get the image to change to the next one and for those used to larger zoom ability, the 4x zoom on this camera can seem rather pathetic but for swapping compactness, light-weight, fit-in-your-pocket mobility for a camera with more zoom abilities is well worth the swap if you dont plan on needing that kind of zoom for most of your picture taking needs, and the last negative is that the replacement battery is difficult to find - the only place that carries them so far is the Panasonic website and they are very expensive which leaves out the possibility of carrying a back up battery granted this camera can take 400-500 shots before needing a charge may make that complaint a mute point. Also I want to mention that Vanns was a great store to buy through - everything was shipped quickly with free shipping.
