A whole new dimension of home theater
Usually we talk about brand-new technology in a product, but we think one of the coolest features of the HT-S9300 is something that's been around for a while — 3D. Now, as you're probably aware, the world has always been seen in three dimensions. However, traveling to the set to watch your favorite shows and movies in real life can be a bit costly, unpractical, and for most computer-edited movies, disappointing. And, since its inception, TV and movies have almost always been shown in a only two dimensions. So until now, you've been stuck watching your favorite flicks in only two dimensions. But that whole idea is undergoing a serious revision right now. You see, thanks to a host of new, advanced technologies, making and broadcasting 3D movies and shows is more practical and affordable than ever. If you want to all the technical details about how new 3D systems work, check out our "Articles" section. If you just want to enjoy your movie without needing to know all the nerdtastic details, then you'll be happy to know that the HTS9300 system is ready for 3D with four HDMI version 1.4 inputs and an output. In almost no time, you can start enjoying 3D movies and TV shows with it. So sit back, relax, and remember — there's no need to duck, it's only an effect.
The ARC
We already mentioned how the HDMI 1.4 cables the HT-S9300THX uses allow you to enjoy new 3D movies. But there's another side to that story. It's called the ARC (Audio Return Channel). Here's how it works: On older versions of HDMI, if you wanted to run audio from the TV to the receiver, it would take an extra cable. But now, with v1.4, you can use the same HDMI cable you're already using to send video to the TV, to send audio back to the receiver. This is great any time you want to watch standard over-the-air TV broadcasts, or quickly hook devices like camcorders or game consoles to your system.
It flexes
When you're setting up your system, it's kind of a pain to be confined to a single set-up, which is another reason the HTS9300 is so great. Sure, you can opt for the traditional 7.1-channel set-up. In a smaller room, you could even compress that to a 5.1-channel set-up. But what then? In most systems, you could take the surround back speakers you're not using and, um, put them in the attic for storage. Oh, or you could buy another stereo to use them with. With the HT-S9300, the story reads a little differently. If you opt for 5.1 channels in the main room, you can makes use of the two extra powered channels and included speakers to run audio to a second room. Or, for a richer sound experience, you could also set your system up to make use of Dolby Pro Logic IIz processing. This advanced processing allows you to add a set of front height speakers to your main room for a fuller, more dimensional audio experience. These sorts of audio options give you much more flexibility than you'll find on most systems.
A good listener
Some people have super-sensitive hearing. They can hear a pin drop from down the hall, or tell the slightest difference in pitch between two songs. However, most of us have a little-bit harder of a time trying to distinguish between two nearly-identical sounds. This can make setting a home theater system's audio up all but impossible for the average Joe. Fortunately, there's a solution. Included with the purchase of the HT-S9300THX is an Audyssey microphone. You simply set it up where you'll do most of the listening in your room, and it "listens" to the sound in your room to help you make adjustments for a perfect sound solution custom-tailored to your unique room.
Awesome amplification and precise processing
The HT-S9300THX is one of the first THX I/S Plus certified systems to handle full high-definition processing of 1080p video and the master quality of Dolby® TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio&trade. Whatever input you choose, whether gaming, movies, broadcasts, or music, the HTS9300THX draws on a reservoir of precise amplification power to create a breathtaking home entertainment experience. With video upscaling, revolutionary audio equalization and acoustic treatment technologies, and integrated control with leading display brands, the HT-S9300THX is a fail-safe solution for most home environments.
A dream come true
You've dreamed of it for years, never imagining it would actually happen, but it has! THX-certified sound is available in an affordable home theater system. The HTS9300THX earns the THX seal of approval with its powerful 7.1-Channel receiver and speaker package. Developed by Lucasfilm in 1983, THX is a high-fidelity sound reproduction system used as a quality assurance measure. Most people are used to hearing the distinctive crescendo, called "Deep Note," at the beginning of movies in the theater. It assures that the movie meets the highest standards of sound and video quality. In the past, achieving THX-quality sound in your home theater was an extremely costly venture. Now, Onkyo's HTS9300THX offers you the exceptional quality of a THX system for a reasonable cost. So fire up your favorite movie and listen to that beautiful signal that your system is the best it can be.
Power and authority
All too often, home theater packages disappoint their buyers. They are underpowered, poorly engineered, and over-rated. Onkyo has emphatically resolved these shortcomings with the HTS9300 7.1-channel receiver/speaker package. In terms of power, the HTS9300's seven channels deliver. But sheer power means nothing without the audio circuitry design, technology, and quality parts to back it up. Just like you'll find in Onkyo separate components, it's the core elements -- WRAT (Wide Range Amplifier Technology), Optimum Gain Volume Circuitry, 192 kHz/24-bit digital-to-analog converters, a 32-bit DSP processing chip, and an H.C.P.S. (High Current Power Supply) -- that provide the backbone for the home theater performance that is noticeably lacking in today's market. Admirably supported by the 7.1-channel speaker system (an impressive package in its own right), the HTS9300 distinguishes itself as a home theater system for the mid-to large-sized family home.
Speaking of speakers
This speaker package exudes a feeling of power. Providing a more-than-capable match for the receiver, this package of seven speakers includes two fronts and a center channel (all with dual 5" A-OMF midrange woofers and 1" soft-dome tweeters), four surrounds (with 5" woofers and 1" tweeters), and a 125-Watt powered subwoofer with a 12" cone driver. Onkyo features the Advanced Onkyo Micro Fiber (OMF) diaphragm in each 5" woofer. A-OMF utilizes a pure cotton weave and a polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) layer to absorb vibrations, maintain strength, and resist heat. Thin and rigid, this fiber enables a fast, accurate response, which brings an exceptional midrange clarity to this system. With the HTS9300, you can enjoy the movie the way the directors meant it to be heard. Only now, you're at home.
WRAT (Wide Range Amplifier Technology)
Originally developed for Onkyo's high-end receivers, WRAT is a collection of proprietary technologies that achieves three fundamental goals in the pursuit of superior home theater: wider frequency response, reduced amplifier distortion at high volume, and better control of current and electric/mechanical kick-back from speakers. WRAT ensures that you're getting the audio performance necessary for a range of video content and enables quality playback from high-resolution formats like DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD, as well as your regular CDs and DVDs.
Craziness! 192 kHz/24-bit DACs for all channels?
Yep. Crazy, but true. The HTS9300 incorporates 192 kHz/24-bit DACs for all channels. You can expect these DACs to give you a comparable audio quality to separate components. With a much higher resolution than the incoming signal, the DACs enable the receiver to generate a more accurate audio playback. Also, the DAC's 128x oversampling rate optimizes the signal-to-noise ratio and increases clock jitter tolerance. You'll be hard pressed to find home theater packages incorporating these DACs at all, let alone for all channels. Enjoy!
Included with purchase
Color-coded speaker cables, remote control, indoor FM antenna, AM loop antenna, speaker set-up microphone, subwoofer cable, instruction manual, quick set-up guide, remote control, batteries for remote control.

I've been a big fan of Onkyo speakers and AV receivers for years. I had an Onkyo 5.1 system and recently gave it to my sister for her home. I decided to upgrade my system to the 7.1 surround sound and HDMI capability. The Onkyo HT-S9300 THX is absolutely awesome. I love that it is THX certified. The sound is so pristine and clear. The subwoofer provides a nice rumble. The overall sound which is produced by the system is very full. I've demonstrated my Onkyo HT-S9300 THX to numerous friends and I am the envy of them all. My house has been mentioned as the location of the next Super Bowl and for movie nights. One of my favorite things about this Onkyo system compared to my old one is the on-screen display for the menu options. Also, the presets are actually usable. Sometimes AV system give you a strange audio setting like concert hall which sounds like the music is in an echo chamber. Does anyone actually use such a setting??? This Onkyo system provides actual usable presets. I would and have recommended this system to anyone who is serious about their Home Theater experience.

Hi, I bought Onkyo THX HTS9300 last year. and it delivered its performance up to my satisfaction. As mentioned earlier THX IS, its meant for lesser than 2000cc room. The sounds is awesome and incredible. It shows the quality even at peak mode of volume, similar to theatre. Already many shared the good features present in it. nothing to add on. instead of giving 130rms channel, Ill be much happier if they provide us 150rms channel -P The only drawback i can say is 1 No cooling fan is provided inside AV Receiver, it gets heated up soon but anyway nothing going to happen to receiver because of this. Onkyo use to give this feature before in many other products 2 Cant able to mount my front LR speakers in side ways. if they provide the provision means, i can able to bring my front LR speakers bit front facing us mounting to the side walls. so that it can give a very good surround effect. 3 I dont know much about the speaker wires provided. if i go for any other wires, Will it increase the performance or the clarity..? If yes, which wire i need to use.. suggest a suitable wire for this system...??

The system is excellent and I love it. Set up is easy, but you have to spend at least one hour to put it together, providing you already know where speakers and the receiver go. The automatic setup with the enclosed microphone is a breeze. Then.... what a reward the sound is just amazing. You will re-discover watching movies, playing games or simply your music CDs. I doubt you could come up with a system out of individual components to get an equal sound for twice the price. Your money will be well spent on Onkyo 9300. Also, Vanns customer service is a nicest group of people Ive ever dealt with, especially Elizabeth Liz. Note that speakers are heavy and fairly large. Before you buy this system measure your space and design your setup so there are no surprises. I underestimated the center channel depth and I had to make last minute adjustments. Dont use the attached speaker wires, do yourself a favor and get real cables. One comment to Vanns-this system is very heavy and should be packed in at least two or three separate boxes.

When I first saw the box I almost blew out a disc thinking about lifting it into my basement. There is no other way of putting it, it is a big system in a world of every shrinking systems.
That said once I set it up in the basement it really isnt as intrusive as you would imagine. the sub makes a nice little table top.
Any issues that you have with the size of this unit fade away once you fire it up. I decided to use Tron Legacy on blu ray as the test film for the 7.1.
True HD sound is not a fallacy. It was immersion to the power of awesome. you could not point to certain speakers and say the sound was coming directly from it, the sounds were just there. you were in the action, in stadiums you were there.
So Pros and cons, this is probably going to be obvious.
Cons The size, the speakers are large and conventional methods of mounting the speakers do need to be addressed as they may not always work.
Overheating was something that has been mentioned in many reviews, I have not experienced anything that different than you would get from other systems. It does get warm but as long as your not putting the receiver in a closed cabinet, and there is enough room to vent it seems fine.
Pros It sounds absolutely amazing! nuff said on that subject. the receiver and remote are very user friendly. I now run all my devices through the remote and switching from movies to games is very easy on a side note, games sound great also, I played dead space II and was close to having a heart attack all the time.
The cable set up, if your running HDMIs is exceptionally easy.
So in my opinion, for the quality the price is great.
the size can be forgiven for performance. It is only big not ugly.
Great system and I am ready for Star wars blu ray in october.

Great system!
Big, clear THX or Dolby sounds, works with Blue-Ray 3d using HDMI 1.4a. Plenty of inputs, many listening modes.
I love the Audyssey setup feature. The microphone correctly located and identified my speakers and set the levels to accurately handle my prime listening position. The procedure took about 15 minutes with great results.
The included speaker wires were fine for testing the system, but I ran 14-2 speaker wire for the actual install.
Packaging was great. One box, 136 pounds! No damage in transit. It took one week to arrive with UPS ground.
One caveat -- My ungrounded subwoofers sound great until the receiver is turned off, at which point they start humming. If the receiver is on with no sound, they are silent. I have yet to solve this, but Im fairly sure it is not Onkyos problem.

Such a heavy and multi component system needs to be packed differently, i already suggested to Vanns that they use couple of smaller packages to ship this system. One other thing relates to the manufacturer speaker cables. Please do yourself a favor and buy a real speaker cable to hook up the system.

Onkyo HT-9300THX HTIB •BOTTOM LINE• My Girlfriend doesnt care for all this audiovisual stuff. That being said, the other day after living for 2 weeks with this system set up and playing a wide variety of material, She announced, I really like the sound by the way. Then said, I cant  pinpoint where the sound is coming from ....it just surrounds you, like youre in a sound field. Is that not awesome? On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being amazing, the sound quality of the speakers independently is like a 6 to 7, depending on source material Movies, Music, Blu-Ray, DVD, Cable But when all of these speakers and the sub are playing in tandem with each other as they have been designed to.... This sucker is a 9. Trust me, Id tell you if it wasnt. The sound is precise. Not impeccable though...but specific, never distorts, sounds full, the bass punches....nice tight punches... Forget the price. Because you will. $800 to $1000  bucks I paid $739 with free tax and shipping from Amazon who sold it for Vanns for a 7.1 THX certified HTIB can worry the smart budding audiophile like it did me...but dont worry. For small living rooms, bedrooms,  8 to 10 square feet I believe they state this system is awesome. •THX• A word about THX IS This reciever and 7.1 speaker system, when all used together,  If you do this...you are listening to THX approved sound. The reason I write that is because I can tell. The quality of the sound field is so satisfying to m, so seamless....that my girlfriend, with out me asking her was happy to comment on it. Like most movie lovers, Ive been listening to surround sound since 1986 when it was 2 fronts and a monaural surround track. Then...For the past 10 years Ive been listening to 5.1 sound, Onkyo reciever from 2001, with a $70. 15 year old Optimus radio shack center, 2 Yamaha rears awful an audiosource ? 80watt sub awful again and 2 massive 25 years old Fisher 150 watt video tech mark speakers from a high end rack system from back then I have to admit, I love these things. They have 15 woofers and will put out deep bass at 40 htz So this system in comparison is a radical difference. The speakers can all be considered small...because all the bass gets pumped into the amazing sub woofer which puts out 20 to 25htz bass wall shaking DEEP BASS The comfort of having 8 speakers, all putting out the same sound quality allows for a seamless soundfield. I know that THX and Onkyo both designed this system. THX created a new certification level for small listening areas 8 by 8 to 15 by 15 I believe for the normal humans beings out here like me that cannot build home theaters . The THX certification  was what excited me the most. • INSTALL • Massive box, weighs in at 136 pounds. Opening it felt like Christmas to me. I live in a 4 story walk up in Queens, NY...so I had to un-box in Lobby and make 5 trips up and down stairs to get it all in my apt. The sub is heaviest. I replaced the mounts on the back with picture hanging metal hooks that support 60lbs, and I put picture hanging hooks in the wall that support 100lbs. Mounted 7.1  speakers, reciever gives you option of using the back surrounds as oppossed to surrounds as either front high speakers or rear surrounds.... I chose the later. I mounted speakers as In equal distances at ear lever around room to replicate mixing room as best I could. HDMI cables...get some. Online is cheaper. If you use HDMI....you get an on-screen menu. The reciever lets you use an equalizer on each speaker....letting you adjust highs, mids and lows....with the sub....it lets you adjust 25htz, 40htz, 60 htz....lets you up the decile Levels by 6 on each..... The audyssey microphone set up worked spot on for me. Ive used it about 10 times so far. As soon as you plug in-- the microphone they give you....the set up pops up and prompts you to place mic in listening position 1, then sounds come out of each 7 speakers and sub. Then position 2, then 3... When done....if measures distance crazy accurate sets its own EQ settings to compensate for room acoustics and all....and volume levels for each speaker. I dont usually go for automatic anything...Im a manual setting type guy....but I use the audyssey settings.... • SOUND• Ive been blown away by listening to 5.1 soundtracks.... and 2.0 soundtracks.... The reciever has so many options for you .... I personally chose THX IS mode for everything 5.1 and up.... It takes the 5.1 and creates a 6th and 7th channel for you... The results are sick. I put on Vertigo yesterday. I had DVRd it a few months back from HBO HD. I was rocked by the opening soundtrack. The music was coming out of all channels...sounding so clean and tight. Then the opening scene, dialogue centered...gun shots ringing out. Then I realized....it was 2.0...and I was listening to Dolby Pro Logic Z with THX Cinema... This thing sounded like a newly re-mastered 5.1 soundtrack to me...I was just rocked. Watched the first TRON last night. 5.1 in HD, I thought the sub wasnt loud enough...so I was going to pump it up a bit. Now again, all settings are the Audyssey settings and sub volume knob is set to THX Recommended Before I can up the sub volume like I normally would have done.... One of the those crazy looking flying M shaped  machines flys into frame.... VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM Whoa. Also Been watching Inception I have a PS3...and the reciever has an Video Processor in it. By Farudja. I put on a little edge enhancement and upped the color.... Then let the DTS MA soundtrack go. Oh man... Again...I didnt  think the sub was working at times... Then this clean and deep  BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM The whole apt. shakes. So ok. I have to go. Ive been writing this for 2 days. all in all...Im so pumped, if you cant tell, by this system. I highly recommend buying through Amazon, then VANNS... I hope Ive been helpful. Good luck and enjoy. Godspeed. - Wes

The whole system is very easy to set up, labeled for first time guys. Works as advertised. Bought this as a 7.1 system, but noticed the receiver has ability for two vertical channels as well for a total of ten speaker channels. That sub woofer can shake my whole house. The ability for the receiver to switch from dts to thx sound is as simple as pushing a button. I guess my only criticism is that for a home theatre big enough for 7.1 sound, the included speaker wire is too short for certain spots, so I'll take off a point for making me go get some wire. I did exhaustive, mind nummbing research into a HTIB, this was the best reviewed system out there that offered 7.1. First of all Vanns is awsome. It was shipped to me in 3 days! Got it all hooked up, ran 14 gauge speaker wire, ran the audessey and this system is incredible! You can hear stuff you couldnt hear before, I upgraded from an old philips dvd5.1 combo. Night and day difference. If you are even thinking about a HTIB look no further, so many features, incredible sound, great value, DO IT!

I purchased this unit after reviewing and playing with several others in stores. I am glad I picked the upper end Onkyo. The speakers are a better quality and they sound so much better than the other models and brands. The system sounds best with movies, music radio could be better. The unit was easy to setup color coded and I upgraded the wiring to good high quality 12 gauge speaker wire so there would not be any signal loss. Note the amp does get hot so make sure you have it in a vented area. I think maybe they should have added a small cooling fan. Be prepared if you get this unit, it arrives in a 163 lb box, so have your dolly ready. Overall I am very happy with the sound and operation - many sound choices for your room.

I ordered this system from Vanns just before Christmas. It arrived on January 7th. Considering the time period that is a pretty good delivery time. The system arrived in good shape. The box was a little torn, but it did its job at protecting the contents. The system is heavy a good indication that it is a serious piece of equipment. My complete set-up took about 2 hours as I did not use the speaker wires included but decided to use 16 gauge Monster Cable wiring instead. Once everything was plugged in and powered on I started the set-up and initialization. The manual is good at explaining this part. The Audessey is simplicity itself and very easy to do. Inputting the remote codes is also quite easy, however, not all of them work. I have an Aiwa CD player and the code does not work. Well the CDs remote still works, and I can play my CDs through the system so that is a minor thing. The remote could use a couple more device buttons. I have a VCRDVDR, an older DVD player, and a Blu-Ray player. I can select the DVDR portion of the VCRDVDR, but not the VCR. As VCR tapes are pretty much gone not a deal breaker. I did have to select GAME for my older DVD player, it works fine like this. I dont have video games so I wont miss this. The sound is just fantastic! All the formats work as they should. As mentioned above the Audessey does a great job of equalizing the sound for room. However, you can still do this manually if you prefer. The menu does allow one to increase or decrease 5 frequencies in the center front etc. speakers to include the subwoofer. Their are a LOT of sound fields to choose! The THX also has a large number of fields to choose. I am still learning to use the remote and the various fields it is fun to experiment. The system looks great. The black finish is well done, the speakers are particularly well done. One really nice feature is that the speaker boxes are made from wood or wood composite. It gives them a solid feel and has a good effect on the sound. The sound when watching TV DVDs or Blu-ray discs is beautiful! Whether the field is 5.1, 6.1, or 7.1, everything comes through just great! You are enveloped in clear, crisp sound. The subwoofer has a great punch that has to heardfelt to be believed. Music whether CD, radio, or Pandora Internet Radio is reproduced beautifullly. My favorite field for music is the DTS Neo 6. Your CDs have never sounded so good. Now all I need is a pre-amp for my old turntable....... In short, I love this system! Onkyo has put a lot of Quality into this one and it shows! It looks and sounds great and is a great bargain. Downside the manual is not written as well as it could be. It can be a little confusting when explaining how to use or access some of the sound fields. A couple of terms used by the systems menu and the manual are not defined well. Again, this is minor and by a little experimenting you can figure out what is meant. Also, the remote could have a couple of more buttons for the various devices that one has acquired over time. Again, this is minor. I can highly recommend the HT-S9300THX system to anyone who is looking for an all-in-one unit for their home theater. You can literally spend 4 times as much for an HTIB or seperate components but you will not get a system that is 4 times as good. This one has it all and in spades! Why pay more for less? Get this one you will NOT be disappointed.

This system is unreal. I replaced my very old 5.1 system with the 9300 and the difference is huge. The bass shakes the room and I only have the sub set to the THX setting, less than half on the dial. The speaker setup with the included mic takes some time, but makes a huge difference in sound quality. Just dont trip over the mic cord.... i almost did. The speakers are not little tiny. They are good sized acoustically suspended rock stars. I cranked them up and they dont distort.... they just get louder and louder and louder...... way cool. There are a few thing to be aware of. The included speaker wire is lame so plan on getting better wire. The speakers dont have built in mounting threads, they just have a slot to hang them on a nail or screw head. One other thing to be aware of is the choices for sound processing are almost overwhelming.... i like choices, but this thing has almost too many options, but then again, maybe thats a good thing.

For a 7.1 system, it was not as spectacular as promised. It concked out after 2 days of use - totally silent. I was told to return the system in the same carton it came in - looked like it came via Afghanistan. Speakers are not good for decor - too large compared to some other systems like Samsung. The functions are basically the same as in Philips or Sony or Samsung, so no real difference for the extra $300 plus charged for this system. Very disappointed over the Christmas holidays without my expected great sound. NOTE Here is one classic reason why ratings other peoples opinions online is nothing to really go on -- educate yourself better on about.com etc and decide what is really needed at the best price. For the price, the HT-S9300THX is probably the best home theater you would find on the market. The speakers sound great and the receiver has so many processing modes youll probably wont ever use some of them. Despite its tendency to work at very high temperatures, you wont have a problem if its placed in a well ventilated cabinet. The THX features are pretty useful. Listening a movie at THX reference volume level is very loud but sound detail is still crystal clear. For the price, this system is a better option than purchasing all elements separately. And the order was processed and shipped quickly and arrived on time.

When I received the box the outer cardboard was a little damaged. This did not make a difference as the inner protection kept everything in pristine condition. The system sounds amazing and connecting everything to it was really simple. I gave ease of use a four just because I am new to using something like this and there a ton of options to fiddle with, especially the Audio Return Channel capability. Just to let you know Onkyo does not sell stands specifically for the speakers. In my specific room setup stands are essential since I dont have walls or bookshelves to use. Overall great system and once I figure out everything it can do Im sure I will be even happier with the purchase. As for the stands there are universal ones that can hold them, just none specifically made.

I have been looking for a home theater system for several months. I had picked up a copy of Home Theater magazine, and read a review of the HT-S9100THX system, and, after seeing that it was a recommended pick, was pretty convinced this was the system I wanted. Spending money on extras like this system iswas hard, so waiting allowed the HT-S9300THX system to be developed and released. Read another review in HT and was still sold, and decided to get the 9300 system instead. It was pretty easy to order from Vanns, and I was able to track the system as it moved across the states. When it arrived via UPS, the carton was definitely abused, so I had some minor concerns. When I opened it and removed the contents, pieces at a time, the styrofoam packing was also in some pieces. Amazingly enough, only one speaker was slightly damaged, in the area I would have expected based on the condition of the box it came in and where that box was damaged. It is a minor dent that I can live with since this particular speaker will be somewhat out of the way. I have not hooked anything up yet as I am still waiting on some speaker wire and banana connectors. I am looking forward to creating my own cables and actually getting something to listen to. My biggest problem is the extremely oddly shaped room where the TV is located and how I am going to place the speakers to get the most out of the system. At this point my ratings should be taken with a grain of salt as I have not actually hooked up and powered on the system. I plan to update this review, if possible, when I have had a chance to get everything working.

This system have a power at volume 82 that shakes the dust of your roof. I gave 5 stars for its sound at first, but Im having some problems with the video processing. Ive already contacted ONKYO consumer services and still did not have an answer. The video from my Blu-Ray through HDMI to my LED TV is perfect, but since I hook it up to Onkyo Receiver and from the receiver to my TV with HDMI output Im experiencing some lag in the video. If I watch an action movie, sometimes the image gets a little blurry. The same happens with PS3 games, once looking beautiful hooked directly to my TV and now having this ghosts following the action. Overall, if necessary, one have to purchase some extra digital audio cables if needed. Also, buy some extra cables for all your speakers, because the included cables are ordinary.

I am so glad I waited after the installation of the speaker wires, which I upgraded to 16-2 in the walls, the setup was quick the THX sound setup was fantastic. I now have a system my two dogs continue to bark at as they think the sound is coming from outside the house. Although they speakers are large they fit well into our home. Ok, I did have one small problem, is the right side, the TV faceing you, or you faceing the TV, A little explaination in the direction would help. Or perhaps, I just did not read everything!

The system sets up easily, but I would have liked to see a little more length on the wires provided. Also, the instructions are great, but I am a beginner to the surround sound world and needed a little more information about the different surround settings. However, there are plenty of resources online that are a quick google search away. All in all, this has been a great product for me. Great sound, easy set-up.

I was torn between buying the Bose V20 system or buying an update Onkyo system. I currently have one of the 1st 7.1 Onkyo systems in the living room. I was turned off on the Bose due to not enough inputs for all the gaming consolesDVD players etc. that needed to be hooked up to it. So I went with the Onkyo 9100 THX and boy was it worth it. Nice rich sound with hardly no adjustments. The automatic speaker set up was real nice since there was no measuring and entering it manually into the receiver You can still do it manually though. Total hook up time to connect and assign all the inputs and assign speakers was 20mins. I bought the monster cable banana plugs for the wires and it makes things alot easier. One bad thing if you are planning on mounting the speakers on the walls you will not be able to use banana clips since the end of the clips will make contact with the walls. Use spades for the wall mounted ones or use the old method of twisting the screws down on to the wire. As far as using the reciever it is simple to understand and to use. If anything buy it try it out if its not for you then return it and try something else. I really enjoy it since ive own older onkyo systems and will continue to do so in the future
