Raising the sound bar

If you're ready to step up the sound in your living room but not quite ready for a big, expensive, multi-channel audio system, a sound bar may be the right choice for you. Soundbars seriously improve on the audio quality you'll get from your TV, but they're designed to complement the sleek look of flat panel TVs. Not all sound bars are created equal, though. For example, Sony's HT-CT550W leaves other sound bar theater systems in the dust. This 400W, 2.1-channel setup features a 2-way soundbar designed to look good with flatscreens 40" or larger. But, it also includes a wireless subwoofer with wireless radiator/receiver included, so you can place it anywhere in the room as long as it's plugged in to a power outlet. The really cool features of the system are found on the main unit, though. With three HDMI inputs and one output as well as two digital audio inputs and an analog input, this system is sure to handle the sound for all your sources. It will decode the most advance codecs including Dolby TrueHD and dts-HD Master Audio. It will even handle 3D and 24p pass-through ! The HTCT550W also has an audio return channel so you can enjoy audio from your TV without any additional cables. And, if you decide to leave the sound system off for whatever reason, standby pass-through ensures that you won't have to re-route your cables. Another area the HT-CT550W stands out from the crowd is control. Most sound bar systems come with an easily-lost remote as the only way to set up and control the sound, but this Sony setup features BRAVIA Sync so you can control it with the remotes from other compatible devices, or control those devices with the HTCT550W's full-featured remote. Additionally, if you have a Sony TV, you can download a widget that will allow you to control your sound system with an easy-to-use on-screen menu.

For the price it produces very good sound . It is perfect for livivng rooms of moderate size. If I were to use in considerably larger rooms. I dont think this product would be as effective in larger rooms due to power.
