Change it up a bit

In today's world of portable MP3 players and online audio streaming, something like a CD player or changer might seem pretty antiquated. We beg to differ, however. Let's say you're having a few friends over for a dinner party. Naturally, you'd like to put together a little playlist for the evening. You have two options: your MP3 player or your Marantz CC4003 CD player/changer. Now, because some of the music you want hear is to be found in your CD collection, if you choose the MP3 player, you're going to have to load all that music onto your MP3 player to begin with. Further, in order to preserve the studio-quality of the CD audio on the MP3 file, you'll have to use a higher bit-rate, and slower transferal process. Finally, you'll have to have a newer receiver, TV, or special docking unit to connect the MP3 player to your home A/V system. Or, you could just connect an MM4003 to your home A/V system using its common output jacks, pop five of your favorite CDs into the five-disc changer, and start listening. And if you're worried about needing more than five CDs worth of tunes, the CC4003 allows you to swap out three of the five discs at once, even while a disc is playing. Now, don't count MP3 out

Forgive us if we were a little critical of MP3 audio in the previous paragraph; we truly have nothing against it. In fact, in many contexts it's an extremely convenient format. For example, to return to the dinner party scenario, imagine that one of your guests arrives with some music selections of their own. For ease, they've quickly copied some MP3 or WMA files from their computer or MP3 player onto a CD-R or CD-RW disc. No problem — in addition to CD audio, the Marantz CC4003 supports MP3 and WMA audio encoded on CD-R and CD-RW discs. And, no matter what format you choose, the CC4003 serves up audio that's rich and lifelike thanks to a high-performance Cirrus Logic stereo digital-to-analog converter.

Customization with connections

You've spent the past couple of years putting together a fully integrated home audio and video system. That means multi-room audio and video, as well as advanced whole-home control. Accordingly, you're looking for a CD changer that's capable of being integrated into a whole-home system. Meeting your demands, the Marantz CC4003 offers multiple advanced connectivity options. First, a bi-directional RS-232c connector allows the CC4003 to be controlled by a touchscreen system controller. The Marantz CD player CC4003 is a high quality audio product that I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting the convenience of a 5 disc player and the quality of a changer in this price range. While I agree with other reviewers that the drawer and carousel mechanisms are a bit noisey, the sound quality is very flat and uncolored. No boomey bass and no screechy treble. Just really accurate sound quality. The build quality seems to be high, although I would have preferred larger control buttons for frequently used functions. These few nit picky criticisms aside, I am very satisfied with this product and definitely would recommend it to others.

...Until now. The Marantz CC4003 is a massive, solidly-built unit with an attractive faceplate. But I didnt buy it for its weight or looks. I was building a critical listening room at home and wanted a CD player to add to my turntables, open reel deck and tuner. I ordered the Marantz because it had such good reviews and I wasnt misled. It has a very natural, uncolored open sound, not entirely unlike a turntable, likely due to its Cirrus Logic DAs. They have a very high sampling rate, which makes the resulting analog signal very, very smooth. It also has optical and coaxial digital outputs, but with these DAs, use the analog outs! The remote works well and handles everything. For a CD changer, its a bit large, so make sure you have space allocated for it. The only minor dislikes I have are the amount of mechanical noise the unit makes when loading or changing disks and, of course, it isnt cheap. Its a small price to pay, though, for the glorious audio. This is how CDs are supposed to sound! Marantz continues its tradition of finest quality with the CC4003 CD Changer.

I just got this a month ago. Good So far.
Looks really good. Sounds good, I have attached to a Carver Preamp and it sounds just fine not a big believer that there is much of a difference once you get above $250 units. The carousel is a bit clunky in movement but not a problem. the diameter is tighter than my last Panasonic, you can only remove CDs one at a time. the buttons on the front are poorly marked can barely identify buttons if lighting isnt really brightand most of then are covered up when the drawer is open, this just means it helps to have the remote with you when changing CDs.

I purchased this Marantz CD changer to go with my Harman Kardon 3490 stereo receiver and Bose 301 speakers. I already owned the Marantz 5003 single disc CD player - another high quality Marantz product - and wanted to move it to the master bedroom and add the 5-disc changer to my main audio system. The Marantz brand is second to none in quality and performance and this CD changer is no exception. It looks great, sounds even better and definitely adds convenience to the listening experience since it holds 5 CDs. I am using an AudioQuest G series optical cable for the connection to my HK 3490 and the sound is so clear and clean - even my older CDs and MP3 discs I have made sound fabulous. Vanns is a great vendor with high quality products at reasonable prices and they also have wonderful customer service.

I had a CD player that worked fine but I wanted one with a remote that I could put multiple CDs in. The sound quality is great and superior to what I had. I love the remote. It was very easy to hook up. I would definitely recommend this product.

I bought the Marantz cc4003 with the Marantz sr4023 Stereo receiver.This is one nice cd player.The sound is amazing.My cds never sounded so good.Everything comes out very well balanced.Buy this cd player and you wont be sorry.

Just got the CC-4003 changer today. Gorgeous to look at- very artful in its design. This player is laid out so thoughtfully and intelligent. The remote is another fine piece of audio gear art. With its brushed charcoal and silver design, it too is very attractive and intuitively arranged. Marantz really excelled on this one. Sonically,it is excellent... They used very fine Cirrus Logic DACs on this player. Lots of dynamics- great signal to noise, dynamic range and thd specs !!! This changer incidentally, has the same specs as the 5003 single disc player they make. Both of the players benefit from the same great DACs imported from Marantzs previous generation of their high end DVD players costing over $1,500. The sound is simply awesome !!!! Cant wait for some burn-in time on this player. Right out of the box, it was just super!!!!
If you want a CD changer that is definitely a cut above the rest, THIS IS IT !!!
