Maximize Your Entertainment
Immerse yourself in wall-to-wall surround sound with the most advanced surround sound formats available for your home. Dolby Digital and DTS-ES provide outstanding surround sound as well as five DSP (Digital Sound Processing) modes that allow you to tailor the sound to your tastes. To take advantage of Dolby Digital EX processing, this receiver has six 100 watt amplifiers. The sixth amp has been added to accommodate an additional surround back channel, but can also be switched over to power a subwoofer. Dolby Pro Logic II Movie Mode creates a realistic surround sound experience from stereo broadcasts and VHS tapes. Dolby Pro Logic II also has a Music Mode that greatly enhances the enjoyment of your CDs, tapes, radio (even LPs). This Music Mode also allows you to dial-in the best sound for your room and personal taste. SRS Circle Surround II provides additional processing to help make the most of most any format you choose. From LPs to CDs and VHS to DVD; whatever your entertainment choices, Kenwood maximizes your enjoyment.
Sound Processing & Boosting Bass
Audio Digital Signal Processing (DSP) modes recreate different sonic environments simulating the acoustics of distinct venues. You can enjoy a more lifelike listening experience by choosing between modes, which include arenas, theaters, and clubs. Bass management lets you set up your system so that deep bass is sent only to those speakers designed to handle it, reducing distortion and increasing dynamic range. Bass management is performed digitally, allowing greater precision and control. You can also increase bass by preset amounts using Bass Boost to give your music an even richer, fuller sound. Select from three active speaker equalization modes to match the response of your speakers to the type of program you're listening to (movies, music or TV) and enjoy maximum impact from all your entertainment.
Put Yourself In A Good Mode
In addition to all the digital sound processing (DSP) modes, you also have Midnight Theater Mode which softens the loud portions of a Dolby Digital soundtrack, allowing you to enjoy a movie without disturbing others (or the other way around). Last Sound Mode Memory helps you keep track of which modes you like best by remembering the last user-selected sound mode for each input and automatically switching to that sound mode when you select the input. If you choose to listen to a CD in Jazz Club mode, the next time you select the CD input your receiver will remember you like the Jazz Club sound and automatically take you there. This receiver is even with it enough to automatically sense whether it's receiving a digital or analog signal and adjust itself accordingly.
Hooked Up
This powerhouse is prepared to handle high energy, multi-channel, digital audio. To start with, it kicks out an impressive 100 watts to six channels (not just five). Even better, all that power is being provided by an extremely efficient Kenwood K-STAT discrete audio amplifier. So, you not only get plenty of power, but your receiver makes the most of that power to provide cleaner, more consistent sound and rock steady reliability. An impressive array of connections enable you to connect to practically any component you would care to. Digital audio inputs for components like CD and DVD, S-Video for superior video performance or component video for the best video transfer. There are also inputs on the front panel for easy connection of camcorders and dozens of other devices. Six channel inputs allow you to connect to new audio excitement like DVD Audio & SACD, or even future formats not even dreamed of yet. Banana Plug speaker connections provide solid, secure connections so all that wondrous audio reaches your speakers as purely as possible.
For Control Freaks
What makes a remarkable receiver even better? A really cool remote of course. The remote included with this home theater receiver comes pre-programmed with codes to operate a large number of other devices. If the codes you need for your equipment are not already in your new control center, it can quickly and easily learn new codes. It has a built-in LCD screen to help you keep track of what you're system is doing and it also has RF (radio frequency) ability so you don't have to aim your remote directly at the receiver. You don't even have to be in the same room as the receiver. Two IR (infra red) outputs are built into the receiver itself which allows you to use the receiver to help control other devices with your remote's RF ability. For ultimate control, use the system control connections to network your receiver with other compatible Kenwood components.
