How the Mythos Nine drives your audio

For detailed and powerful reproduction of the full range of audio on your favorite movie or album, the Mythos Nine combines three advanced driver classes. First, a single, 1" ceramic-coated, pure-aluminum-dome tweeter with an acoustically contoured faceplate serves up unparalleled high-frequency extension, detail, and smoothness. Second, two 4.5" bass/mid-range drivers with Balanced Double Surround System technology deliver high-performance, low-resonance midrange and bass audio. Finally, coupled to the mid-range drivers, two racetrack-shaped 4.5" x 8" pressure-driven planar low-bass radiators dramatically extend low-frequency reproduction for bass performance that well outperforms other on-wall speakers.

The driver technologies used in the construction of the Mythos Nine's two 4.5" midrange drivers define "high-performance". An optimized magnetic system delivers high efficiency and linear excursion, while a die-cast alloy basket minimizes resonance. An advanced waveguide offers broad, even dispersion and improved imaging, and an over-sized voice coil improves power handling and increases linearity. But topping the list is Definitive Technology's Balanced Double Surround System, a.k.a. BDSS. This driver-surround design supports the speaker cone at two points, providing improved mechanical stability. The result is nothing less than longer, more linear excursion and improved damping and suppression of parasitic cone resonance. The result is nothing less than the marvel of Mythos audio.
