Thrilling bass freedom
Styled to match Infinity's Classia Series loudspeakers, the PSW310WBK powered subwoofer delivers the deep, realistic bass that's essential to the cinematic experience as well as live recordings. An internal amplifier pumps out 400 watts RMS (700 watts peak dynamic output) to the active 10-inch CMMD (Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragm) driver while dual 10-inch CMMD passive raditors reinforce the bass response. And with Infinity's 2.4GHz technology, installation couldn't be easier. There's no need to run a subwoofer cable around the room. Just connect the included transmitter module to your A/V receiver, place the subwoofer where it works best in your room, and plug the speaker into a power outlet. This is what Infinity calls bass freedom. You'll call it thrilling.
What's CMMD?
CMMD technology means improved accuracy, dramatically reduced distortion, and incredibly lifelike sound. Working in collaboration with metallurgy specialists, the resourceful Infinity transducer engineers identified a special combination of materials that have ideal properities to reduce or dampen distorting vibrations. CMMDs are much stiffer than standard metal diaphragms, moving the natural resonances upwards in frequency. At the same time, CMMD cones have more damping than metal cones, making this an excellent cone material for all transducers: woofers, midranges, and tweeters.
Reinventing sound reproduction
Today, Infinity acoustic researchers are doing breakthrough work in the fields of transducer and system design. With new materials, new theories and new measurement methods, they are literally reinventing the concept of what a state-of-the-art sound-reproduction system should comprise. Loudspeaker systems should be neutral devices, converting electrical signals from power amplifiers into exact acoustical equivalents, adding and subtracting nothing. Art is in the music itself in the musical sounds from fine instruments. The task of the loudspeaker is to reproduce this art transparently, without changes. Infinity's objective is to build loudspakers that are as neutral as possible, so they accurately reproduce the subtle characteristics, timbres, and voices of musical instruments.
Reducing resonance
When designing a speaker, the main obstacle is to reduce the resonance or vibration that is naturally going to occur in any physical structure when sound waves encounter it. Much of speaker technology revolves around reducing vibrations and the resulting distortion within the speaker. For loudspeaker diaphragms (cones or domes), these resonances are the primary source of audible coloration.

First just want to say thanks to Vanns as I have built my whole stereo through them and there customer service and prices are amazing thank you. I already run 2 10inch Boston accoutics vps210 subs but what I wanted, was to be able to have the ability to place a sub in the room anywhere and with this being a wireless sub and priced at 249.00 I thought I would take a chance and wow am I glad I did and the set up was a snap. Plugged the transmitter in the pass through in my vps 210 plugged the infinity sub in and instant success. Its been fun being able to move the sub anywhere I want.

I have previously owned the Infininty Beta SW-12 for several years. The SW-12 was a good hard hitting sub that lacked definition. I sold it and shopped around for months and auditioned some retail subs. I was all set to purchase another brand when I came across this deal through Vanns. I believe this product line is on close-out from Infinity and these may be the last units. I have the Mirage OMD speaker line and I wanted something to help fill in the lower end bass notes. I also have an Emotiva amp and processor. Enough of the background, now on with the review. The PSW301W is smaller than I imaged, but looks much better in person. It is smaller than my old SW-12, but it weights the same and fits in the corner alot better. This sub is exactly what I was looking for. Infinity does a good job building subs and some support the R.A.B.O.S room EQ system. The fit and finish are stellar with a solid feel to all of the switches and knobs. The sub also includes a subwoofer cable which is rare, but it is a little too thin for my preference. I used my existing Monster subwoofer cable buy a cable from Monoprice if needed. After some AV processor tweaking, I was amazed at how distinctive the bass was. The bass is not boomer and single noted at all. I have never owned a subwoofer this precise and it blows away all retail subs that I have auditioned from big box retailers. I highly recommend this sub for music and movies. It feels like you are in the movie. The only problem I have now is tracking down a R.A.B.O.S kit. I wish it came with one and I wish the warranty was longer. But at this price I cannot complain. Also, if you buy it through Vanns Ebay site you can save some more money.

The deal was too good to pass, so I bought one at a quarter of the list price since I needed a upgrade to my 10 years old JBL subwoofer. Upon receiving the item, first impression was the nice packaging and the heavy weight, always a nice thing for a subwoofer. Next was the beautiful piano black cabinet and the included accessories and cables, this was a surprise, since I dont remember I ever received a cable with any other subs Ive purchased in the past.
I was worried about the wireless and RABOS features that are built-in with this sub, to me they sound more like gimmick and could cause confusion and making it more difficult to set up. It turned out that my worries are unfounded, this sub can be connected and set up just as any other sub. I just connected my receivers sub-out to the subs LFE terminal directly with the included cable, without even bothering with the wireless and RABOS, RABOS is easily to be turned off via a single switch on the back. I turned the volume to 12 clock and it is ready to rock.
Now the sound, the bass is the best Ive heard so far, and Ive owned JBL, Energy, Polk and Yamaha, all in the same price range. The bass is tight and powerful and I can hear the notes, not just a single thump, good with both music and movies, a truly high-end sub at a bargain price vanns is selling now. If you are in the market for a sub in this price range, stop looking and grab this one before they are gone. I bought second one from vanns.

PSW310WCH Is A Good Sub For The Price Review I am not an audiophile but my ears can definitely hear better sound when the sub is turned on. For music application, the sub makes the music sounds fuller and provides stronger and more solid bass. I never turn on high volume so at medium volume, the sub does a good job of providing clean and balanced bass when I set the level at around 6. For movie application, the sub definitely helps to bring action to live with volumed bass and creates a sense of some vibrations. The sub of this qualify is definitely needed for good home theater experience. Initially, I was thinking of using the wireless feature but then I found a place to put the sub closer to the receiver so I used the wired connection. I think any wireless transmissions will incur some loss so I just want a secured connection. I got the sub when it was on sale for slightly less than $400. I think this sub is a good value at this price range. I highly recommend Vanns for their good price per value products and their free and fast delivery.
