Every iPad comes with one year of hardware repair coverage and 90 days of telephone technical support. The AppleCare Protection Plan for iPad extends your coverage to two years from the original purchase date of your iPad.

New iPad is extremely flexible in its functionality and very portable. Considering the products price, technology and probable exposure to hazards with its portability, it makes sense to protect the functional life by having access to Apple expertise. At 20 percent of the purchase price of the minimal configuration, it is a bit pricey but more reasonable for the upscale versions. Regardless, make sure you keep a backup of your iPad data.

Lets face it. At some point, youre going to drop your device. Maybe itll be fine maybe itll break. Odds are, youll do this dropping after your standard warranty period has ended.
Do yourself a favor and spend the extra $99 to expand your coverage for another two years.
Whenever Ive dealt with Apple Care in the past, Ive always gotten a human being on the phone in relatively short order, and that person has always done their best to get my solution moving within just a few minutes.
Its worth it.
