The rock legend lives
It's safe to say that Rock Band is unlike any game ever released before. But is that a bad thing? Not at all. With its release, Rock Band has effectively raised the bar for not only music games, but ALL games that come after it. In the game, players get to customize their avatar, choose their instrument (lead guitar, bass guitar, drums, or lead vocals), and play their way through 58 pre-loaded songs from the biggest names in rock in either solo or multi-player modes. Additional songs can be purchased and downloaded separately. This is accomplished through playing on sold-separately instrument peripherals. Online functionality is supported as well. With numerous awards and accolades, and over 2.5 million units sold already, this game has already achieved rockstar fame in the gaming world. Could that many people be wrong? Nah.
"Auditions tonight: open to my friends"
Rock Band made a lot of noise in the gaming world with its release in late 2007. It was acclaimed as one of the best games of the year because of many innovative features. One of the areas it received the most attention for was its unprecedented multiplayer functionality. In the game, two to four players can form a band where each person plays their separate instrument as their band plays shows around the globe. This co-op play is unlike any other game out there. Each player gets to customize their own rock character and choose the instrument, and even difficulty level they want to play. Then, all four players work together to play customized shows in venues across the globe for in-game rewards. How you choose which three friends you want in your band is up to you.
Release you inner rock god(dess)
Another of the unique elements about Rock Band as opposed to similar games is the ability to customize your in-game avatar. On Rock Band, you get to release your inner rock god(dess) in the form of an on-screen character. But, instead of choosing from a dozen pre-made rockers, you can start from the ground up, changing your rocker's gender, physique, clothes, hair, accessories, tattoos, on-stage movements, and instrument. So with Rock Band, you can create the perfect rock star by creating an avatar that looks just like you, or not at all. It's all up to you, and that's the important thing.
