Very satisfied with my order. I'd been tracking a sought-after lens that had been on back order due to the earthquake in Japan. I signed up for notification email from Vanns, and sure enough, received it once the stock was available. Placed my order for a Panasonic 20 mm lens for micro 43rds on Monday, opted for free shipping, received my item promptly on Thurs morning of that same week. Item shipped from OH to NYC--I probably would've received it even quicker if I'd had it shipped to my home instead of through work where it needs to be sorted and processed to various offices in the building. Item was properly wrapped and packaged. I should also mention that it was competitively priced -- that was probably the best part of my transaction! I'm very impressed with the efficiency of the entire transaction and would love to buy from this vendor again the next time I need camera equipment.
Lastly, the product itself mentioned above, a Panasonic 20mm lens works wonderfully with my Olympus EPL-2!

I got GF2 body & bought this 20mm pancake instead of getting a kit w 14mm. It was a little bigger but the quality is awesome! Im glad I made the right choice. Sharp, quick AF & good in low light!
The box was missing after the UPS guy left it @ my apts front door. After I called Vanns they said they would trace it w UPS & offered me a replacement when more of these sold out lens arrive. What a great service from Vanns! Anyway, in about 3-4 hours, someone put it back in front of my door! It was incredible & I'm very happy w/ the lens.

Prior to buying this wonderful lens, I already own an Olympus 17mm f2.8. Though I dont like comparing them much that Oly lens can definitely hold its own, I found myself looking for a faster lens, and this lens many say is a must-have for the m43 format. So I bit the bullet and bought one from Vanns, and boy am I glad I did. It is fantastic, and in my experience, low light is really where it shines. Dark turns into day. - And youd be hard-pressed to find a lens native to m43 that can exceed this lens image quality looking at sample images, the Panasonic 45mm might, but I dont own it. Ill be keeping the Olympus 17mm because it has its strengths, but I find that this lens occupies my camera more often now.

I bought this to go with a Panasonic GF1. I wanted a compact walking around lens for hiking, and this iswas the gold standard compact lens at the time. I havent shot with a fixed length lens before, and it takes a little getting used to. Requires me to frame the shot with my feet rather than my fingers, which is a change. Certainly not a negative, by any means.
Positives Small, great in low-light, relatively inexpensive
Negatives Lens distortion is clearly present when processing RAW files with an editor that doesnt account for the distortion info attached to the image file so youre fine with a smart program like Lightroom, but get distortion in Photomatix HDR software, for example.

Bought this for my pen 1 over the Olympus 17mm 2.8 because of the extra F stop. This lens is extremely sharp in F4 and above. Anything under is OK, still usable.
Construction is solid, a little heavy, but bring good balance to the pen.

Learning to use it... Vanns was timely for shipping, even in the holliday rush. They also had the best price. Why this lens? Others reviews and did find that there is softness in the 14-140mm Panny lens, but that people have raved about the sharpness of this lens. Good news, it is small and light, and the auto-focus is very fast. Pros I follow rave about it, now I look forward to learning how to use it more. The low light performance, as well as weight were things that attracted me, and on my 43 camera, the weight is as low as my large P&S... mind, this is NOT a zoom, or a kit, but a simple fixed lens. The GH2s tele-converter lets one take it from the 20 40mm 35 eq to 40 80 35mm eq and beyond, which is handy if its all one is carrying. With most cameras now having 10 meg images, getting it crystal clear first is key, and after that, cropping can pull out what one wants. from less than 1x to about 4x -- very handy indeed. Low light was also key for shooting video inside, and the autofocus has been more than fast enough for my simple needs.

I use this lens on my Panasonic GH1. I bought this lens for low-light situations, such as around the house. The kit lens 14-140 is not fast enough in these situations and the 20mm does the job beautifully. As mentioned in other reviews, the focus motor is loud enough to be picked up by the camera microphone if the ambient sound is low enough. But you really have to listen for it to hear it. Images are very sharp.

I have a couple of M43s cameras, a Panasonic G1 and a GF1, with 14-45mm and 45-200mm lenses. I had been considering the 20mm pancake lens for a while now to compliment my GF1 and Im glad I picked it up.
The lens is takes the GF1 down a notch in size, my wife even likes holdingusing the camera better now. The size goes down, but the performance goes up. Im finding myself having to use the flash less and less now due to the capabilities of this lens.

Using this lens on an Olympus E-PL1, and the image quality is superb. With the f1.7 you can easily shoot indoors and at night without issue. There is some noticeable CA when using with with the Olympus bodies, but nothing Photoshop cant handle easily. The size is extremely small as you would expect from a pancake lens, but surprising its very fast at focusing which was a pleasant surprise. I would highly recommend this lens for anyone with a m43rds mount camera.

The 20mm lens for my GF1 is fantastic! Superb low-light performance mostly eliminates the need for a flash indoors in typical conditions. Fully open in brighter light produces dramatic depth of field. This lens plus GF1 body makes a really compact and rock-solid camera.
This is the second time Ive bought online from Vanns - my GF1 with 14-45mm lens was bought here 5 months ago. Both transactions were fast and flawless. I could not be happier.
