I love this remote it is amazingly easy to setup and use. If you are looking for a universal remote, you have to get one with a LED screen it makes it so much easier to use. Harmony really knows what they are doing.

The remote control for our new surround receiver would not accept cable box product codes. We were therefore not able to change channels with the receiver remote and had to use the remote for the cable box. We simplified our television watching experience by purchasing a Logitech Harmony 700 universal remote control from Vanns. This solved the multiple remote problems. All our entertainment devices are now controlled with one remote. We recommend this product without reservation.
It is important to follow the manual that comes with the remote regarding the input settings for each device. You will need to know these inputs before setting up the remove via the Internet. There is a convenient table in the manual for this purpose. Taking the time to complete this table accurately will save setup time. Keep this manual handy because you will need to adjust your remote settings as you become accustomed to using the Harmony 700.
The setup procedure from Logitechs web site is easy to follow. Their support is excellent should you have problems.
I wish to comment on the service I received from Vanns. The staff was more than helpful. I was not sure which remote would serve my purposes and the person I talked with made a recommendation AFTER learning how I plan to use the remote and how many devices I have. Vanns support personnel are superior and the companys business practices are unmatched. I will definitely buy from Vanns in the future.

I decided to spend the extra bucks to simplify my audio visual world. I have an Onkyo receiver running 2 zones, and these other components Onkyo CD player, Sony Blue Ray, Sansung 46 TV, and Verizon FIOS TV box.
I was initially very impressed with the easy of setup of the Harmony 700. They take you on line - hooking up the remote to your PC and walking you through component set up step by step. BUT when I found that the remote did have the software to setup zone 2 of my Onkyo 508 receiver I became very disappointed. I found out after 1 hour 45 minute call with Tier 1 and Tier 2 support that they do not have the software to do an auto set up and it becomes a manual one on my part. I found it frustrating that Tier 2 did not have access to more detailed information about the Onkyo remote and how it worked. I had to provide them key stroke information on how the Onkyo remote worked and still have not gottenn zone 2 programmed. As I looked closer at the Onkyo remote I felt I could have programmed it to work all the components and saved the extra money spent.

We purchased 3 of the Harmony Remotes, one for each of our systems. It was easy to program if you have newer items. One system we have is very old and we had to program individual buttons, we still have a little problems with that. If you have new updated items, it is GREAT. It was not hard to program, all you had to do was plug it into your computer and enter your make and model numbers, then follow along. If you make a mistake and have to get back it is a bit of a pain because you cant always get back to the screen you were at. Plan on spending some time with it. But once that is all over it is a wonderful remote very easy to use. I would recommend it.

We use the H700 to control a Sony TV, a Samsung Blu-Ray, and an Onkyo home theater system. Initial setup required a call to Harmony but once they did their voodoo the remote has worked great. All our other remotes are in a drawer.

I know nothing about remote controls other than this one, and frankly, I dont care to know more. Im a short tempered 55 year old and the last thing I want is another electronic gadget for the sake of owning another electronic gadget. I dont want to know one more new thing in fact, I dont want to know as much as I do. If it concerns electronics, Im already sick of it. But even I recognized the need for one remote rather than six. The clutter is incredible, and I could never find the one I needed, usually because my kid leaves it in the last place Id look, like behind the toilet in the guest bathroom. What use she found for it in there I have no earthly idea. I wouldnt know a well designed instrument cluster from a bad one, and button texture
? Why the heck would _anyone_ care? If youre concerned with button texture, I recommend saving the money youd spend on a remote control and use it to see a shrink instead. I bought this model because I figured I wouldnt appreciate the step up, and the product description seemed as though the remote included everything I needed which was mostly about turning my stuff on and off in the limited amount of time I have without having to get out the darn manual. With minimal effort on my part, this remote worked from my antique VCR to a new LG TV, and with all the stuff in between and without having to program it myself. It has a motion sensor that lights when you move it, and an understandable button array with labels like watch TV even I understand that, and the dedicated buttons work great. It has more features than Ill probably use, but so be it. I hide it when I leave the house for any length of time, which I recommend over the alternative duck taping it to the couch. Its a fine product, and Im satisfied.
