While the microdots keep information about your item’s proper ownership securely in place, MicroTrax 24-hour customer service helps make sure that if they’re found, they can coordinate with the finder and you to get it back into your hands quickly and easily. Plus, their convenient website allows you to monitor its progress back to you. Normally, this service starts at $3.95 per month (or $49.95 per year), but with this kit, you get three years of service included. With three years of not worrying about lost objects, you can use that extra time to think on less stressful things.
Lost
In this on-the-go world, some things can get left behind. When you’re juggling a phone, MP3 player, a set of keys, luggage, groceries, children, and trying to organize your day it’s no surprise that something can get forgotten. And, even when they are found by someone who wants to return it to you, there is often no way to tell who the item belongs to – leaving it to sit in a “Lost and Found� box, while you’re left trying to remember where you left it in the first place. MicroTrax microdot technology can help by attaching sub-millimeter identification tags to your item using a water-based adhesive (visible under ultra-violet light) that contain information unique to you to help identify it as yours. Plus, because MicroTrax are so small, they can be put in multiple places on your keys, cell phone, MP3 player, umbrella, laptop, or other prone-to-lose item so that they are both easier to find, and harder to remove (just in case it’s found by someone with very few scruples).

To make sure that your item is returned to you, MicroTrax registers your kit to you, along with contact information for you, in order to facilitate the return of your property. Finders can call the 800-number on the attached sticker to contact MicroTrax, and let them know they’ve found a lost item. Not only are they rewarded with the profound sense of fulfillment in knowing they’ve helped make your day, they also receive a reward from MicroTrax, making sure that strangers are motivated to help you. MicroTrax also includes adhesive labels that attach to your items, letting those who find your items know that they can call MicroTrax to get it back to the person it belongs to (and letting those with less than noble intentions that it can be tracked). Once MicroTrax knows that a lost item has been found, they will contact you to find out the best way to get your lost item back in your hands quickly.
Micro-what techonology?
Microdots are not a new technology. Originally, they were used to transport classified information during World War II. Less than the size of a grain of sand, this patented technology allows for large amounts of information to be recorded on a very small space. By encoding 226 characters of information, MicroTrax and law enforcement organizations worldwide can connect the dots between you and your lost items. While the dots themselves are invisible to the naked eye, MicroTrax’s water based adhesive appears when exposed to ultra-violet light, so that even if the information sticker is removed, there’s still a way to tell the information is there.
