Convenience times two! The MX25981ST has four doors, which is twice as many as a standard refrigerator/freezer combo. This might seem strange at first, or even ridiculous, but bear with us, and you'll see why four actually makes much more sense. The doors come in sets. There are two doors to the refrigerator, and two to the freezer compartment.The refrigerator door arrangement is called french door, and is quickly growing in popularity in the refrigeration world. Why is this so well-loved? First and foremost, with a french-door design, your door width is cut in half, so you can have a wider refrigerator with more space and still not need as much room for the door swing as a traditional model. Secondly, opening only one side lets less cool air out, keeping your food at a more stable temperature, and thus in better condition, as well as reducing energy costs. This also makes accessing food more convenient. Finally, many people find the french-door design very visually stimulating, particularly in kitchens with split cabinetry. There are also two freezer drawers on the LMX25981ST. This too serves a purpose. Again, letting half as much cold air escape is better for your food and your energy bill. This also allows the freezer to maintain the drawer design (which is nearly essential on bottom mount models) without making you dig through mounds of chilly food to find the package of hamburger you're looking for. This makes the two-drawer design much more convenient.

The freezer drawers, though split, are still packed to the ceiling LED light with features. The top drawer is a full-width wire basket for holding the foods you use most often. Should they fall through, the lower basket is a DuraBase solid drawer base used for storing foods for longer periods of time. This freezer uses IcePlus to pump out enough cold cubes to keep the party cool all night long. CustomCube also lets you adjust the size of your ice cubes. There is also an ice bin to store all your freshly-cooled cubes before use. Now that's cool!
Size does matter!
Sometimes in life, size does matter. Have you ever tried filling a pitcher using a small refrigerator water dispenser? It's not easy! That's why LG included the tallest ice/water dispenser in the business on the LMX25981ST. This lets you fill up cups that never would have fit in other models. An LT600P filtration system also keeps you and your family safe, and keeps your water tasting great. Not only that, though, but there is an LED display adjacent to the dispenser to let you know the refrigerator and freezer temperatures, room temperature, ice and water status, whether or not the child lock is on, whether or not IcePlus is on, and the water filter status.
What's wrong with being shelf-ish?
When purchasing a refrigerator, it's perfectly understandable to want to think about your shelves first. The LMX25981 has four split, cantilevered shelves. Three are slide-out, and one folds. They are made of tempered glass, and are Spill Protector style, so if you knock over a glass of milk on the top shelf, the food below isn't ruined, and the mess is minimized. There are two humidity crispers and a bonus drawer perfect for beverage cans. Additionally, there is a snack pan and a two-piece, covered utility bin. For door storage, even with the large dispenser, there are four shelves, two of which are gallon-sized. There is also a dairy drawer for products like butter. With storage like this, it's understandable why you would be so shelf-ish about your refrigerator!
