One range, eight elements
Chances are you've spent some time cooking on a standard electric range with only two element sizes: big and little, right? And when you were tackling large meals for holidays or other get-togethers, how often did those two burner sizes meet all your heating needs? Not very often. First of all, your pans come in more than two sizes. And further, you use them for a variety of culinary effects: searing, steaming, boiling, blanching, sautéing, frying, simmering, melting . . . and the list goes on. Accordingly, you need a range top whose versatility matches that of your pans and cooking needs. Presenting the PB970SPSS from General Electric. Employing dual, and even triple, elements, this smooth-top electric range is able to fit a whopping eight burners (in three different sizes!) in the space of the typical four. Leading the pack, a Tri-Ring element allows you to choose between 6", 9", and 12" burner sizes, and places a whopping 3000W of cooking power at your disposal — great for everything from searing to sautéing. Not far behind, a dual-element burner offers 6" and 9" element sizes and another 3000W of cooking power, including PowerBoil for fast, consistent boils. Further, two 6" elements with 1500W of power each are great for cooking a small skillet of eggs in the morning or preparing a gravy for the holiday bird. And finally, a 6", 120W Warming Zone delivers low power for melting or keeping a pot warm until the rest of the meal is ready.
Not one, but two ovens
Just as variety on the range top is essential to culinary success, so too is versatility in the oven. Or ovens, as the case may be. Not only does the PB970SPSS sport a large 4.4 cu. ft. main oven, but it also offers a second 2.2 cu. ft. upper oven. Now, you might be wondering: "Do I really need two ovens"? And the answer is: "Yes." Imagine the possibilities: You could be preparing a large, multi-course meal, and need to keep some dishes warm while others cook — use the second oven to keep dishes warm, and the main oven to finish cooking the others. Or, you could just want to cooking something small like a pizza. Instead of warming up an entire main oven, you can simply heat the small oven. Or, maybe you need to cook two different things at two different temperatures. The PB970SPSS's ovens can be easily heated to different temperatures. Two ovens are, well, indispensable.
Dual-bake is doubly even
Your oven shouldn't be "quirky". You shouldn't have to remember to rotate a pizza, casserole, or holiday bird every fifteen minutes because there's a "hot spot" in your oven that'll leave a portion of your pie or turkey charred to a crisp if you don't. Uniform heating of the oven compartment is essential to accurate, successful, "quirk"-free baking. The General Electric PB970SPSS's TruTemp baking system uses dual-element baking to ensure even heating and evenly cooked and browned results. By alternating use of the lower bake element and upper broil element throughout the baking cycle, dual-element baking ensures that each of the PB970SPSS's oven compartments is uniformly heated for ideal baking results.
An eye toward easy cleanup
We're willing to bet that just about anyone who has cooked or baked using an electric range has set off the smoke alarm in the kitchen a time or two. The reason is simple: spills on the range top or in the oven land on the exposed elements and . . . a flash of smoke and . . . ta-da . . . a burnt-on mess. Keeping messes to a minimum, the GE PB970SPSS sports a smoothtop range and hidden bake element. On the range, the single-piece, up-swept ceramic glass cooktop not only contains spills but also shields the elements from spills. In the oven, the lower bake element is enclosed beneath the oven-compartment floor, preventing contact with spills. All you have to do is run the Self-Clean cycle (discussed below) and wipe out any leftover material.
"Self-clean" means you don't have to clean
Your new PB970SPSS fights fire with fire. Spills and messes inside your oven are tough to clean because they get baked right onto the oven's interior. It's the heat of the oven that makes cleanup a hassle. Oddly enough, it's the heat of your PB970SPSS's Self-Clean cycle that makes cleanup a breeze, too. By generating extremely high temperatures within the oven compartment, the self-clean cycle effectively reduces any burnt-on spills into a powdery ash that can be easily wiped out once the cycle has ended. Additionally, the PB970SPSS's self-clean oven racks can be left inside the oven compartments during the cleaning cycle, saving you from having to hand-wash anything at all.

The concept of 2 ovens dates from the old wood burning stove days and has come full circle. It is the only way to cook. the smaller oven being on top provides an ease of access that is not present in todays one oven stoves. Pizza a staple in the modern family gets the proper treatment in the upper oven. The lower oven still can cook that Thanksgiving turkey
