Frigidaire's QuadMaxx™ expandable-element cooktop configuration delivers nine smoothtop electric elements in the space of five. Matching pan size and element size is essential for safe, effective cooking. When pans are used on elements that are either too small or too large, one of two things can happen. First, if the element is too big for the pan, heat is lost, greatly reducing your range's efficiency. Second, if the element is too small, uneven heating can result, and uneven heating can lead to the uneven cooking of foods. Just think, those gorgeous steaks you picked up at the butcher today, charred on one edge and grey on the other. The Frigidaire PLEC36S9EC features four expandable burners. Two of them give you the option of choosing between a 5" element and a 7" element, while the other two can be expanded from 6" to 9".
