| Bosch dishwashers are the strong, silent type. But how quiet are they really? Well, in all truth, they're scarcely louder than a library. Their SHV45M03UC is even quieter than the average conversation, so there's no need to raise your voice just to talk to your friend in the kitchen. This is accomplished through the use of multiple innovative technologies, including the use of two smaller pumps, a suspended, isolated motor, solid-molded base, and three layers of insulation. Most manufacturers will claim that their appliance is quiet because it's under 70 dB or so. Well, this model comes in at a whisper-soft 51dB. This is no louder than the sound of raindrops. That's so quiet, Bosch had to included a light beam to shine on your floor to let you know that your dishwasher is indeed running. You may want to stand on top of your counters and yell about how great this is, but please don't. With the quietness of this dishwasher, your indoor voice will work just fine. |

| Another contributing factor in the need for an indicator light is the fact that this dishwasher's controls (and thus the display indicator) are hidden. Don't worry though. This dishwasher isn't just a glorified game of hide-and-seek or an expensive mind puzzle. The controls are not really tough to find — they're right on top of the door panel, in fact — but this means that while the door is closed, the controls are out of sight. Why? Well, the main reason for this configuration is to allow for a custom door panel (purchased from your local cabinetmaker). This allows you to choose a panel to match your kitchen perfectly. The thing that makes this such a cool feature is that it frees you from the monotony of black, white, and stainless steel kitchens, and allows you to expand your decor to anything you want. The only limit is your imagination, and your cabinetmaker. Just don't forget where it is! One other cool feature of the door is the fact that it's specifically designed to stay in place when opened more than 10 degrees. No more will you have to worry about it falling open the second you turn your back. Sure, it's just a door, but we thought it was pretty exciting. |

| The Bosch SHV45M03UC is ENERGY STAR certified. This means it uses fewer resources, which is good for both the environment and your pocketbook. That's great. But a lot of dishwashers can honestly brag ENERGY STAR certification. When it comes to the environment, though, Bosch doesn't just talk the talk. They walk the walk, as much as possible. For example, in order to qualify for ENERGY STAR labeling, a dishwasher must exceed the federal minimum energy standards by at least 41%. Many manufacturers are content to design products which skirt the low 40s range. Bosch holds themselves to a higher standard, though, and doesn't stop with the blue sticker. This model, for instance, exceeds federal standards by a whopping 80%, which is incredible when you consider the size and quality of wash it delivers. In fact, every appliance Bosch makes is ENERGY STAR certified. Not only that, but many include other environmentally-friendly features such as ECOSENSE (included on this model), which uses sensors to use up to 20% less energy per load. Bosch is also committed at the corporate level to many eco-projects. With this dishwasher, you can do your part in preserving our natural resources, while preserving your billfold at the same time. |

| Another innovative feature that improves the energy efficiency of this model is the flow-through water heater. Conventional dishwashers heat water by pouring it onto exposed heating coils. Bosch did away with this antiquated practice by creating the flow-through water heater. Not only does this free up the space taken up by the bulky coils of old, it provides much more efficient heating, passing 100% of the water through the heating chamber, quickly increasing the water's temperature to up to 161° F. This is just one more example of Bosch's commitment to serving you better. |

It's what's on the inside that counts |
|
| The Bosch SHV45M03UC is fully integrated, which is really cool, but the exterior isn't the only neat feature on this dishwashing powerhouse. It features a stainless steel TallTub. This holds heat in better than a conventional plastic interior, so it holds in heat better, which dries dishes more quickly and efficiently. When the top rack is removed, there is up to 22 inches of vertical usable space, but with RackMatic (which allows you to raise and lower the top rack with the touch of the button), that's rarely necessary. You can adjust it for up to 14" of usable space in the bottom rack, or up to 10" of space on top with top rack still in place, and you can even adjust it while the rack is loaded. All this brings enough space for 14 place settings, rather than the standard 12. Finally, the tub is equipped with sensors, so that in the unlikely event of a leak, the dishwasher will automatically stop the cycle and pump the water out before it reachs the floor (which could be a costly repair for you). With all of these great tub features, it's hard not to believe that it's what's on the inside that counts. |

Drying with water |

| Also related to the stainless steel tub is the inclusion of condensation drying. This works in a very clever way. Rather than drying dishes by blowing energy-wasting hot air on them, the SHV45M03UC takes a different approach. It uses the hot water from the final rinse to dry your dishes. You may be asking how you dry dishes with water. That's where the tub comes in. When the hot water is applied, it condenses and collects on the cooler tub walls, and off of your dishes, then drains, providing you with a more efficient way to dry your dishes. |

| This dishwasher, like all of Bosch's, is certified by the National Science Foundation (NSF). In essence, this means that you dishes are 99.99% free of bacteria at the end of every cycle. Less is more |

| Cliche or not, this old addage is true when referring to the Bosch SHV45M03UC. Let's say you have a few dishes from a light snack, not even enough to fill up half of both racks. Normally, this would have meant either running a full load and wasting all the water, and energy not needed for so few dishes, or waiting to run the load until later, which isn't very convenient if you need those dishes or won't have room later. Well, you prayers are answered. On the SHV45M03UC, Bosch included the Half Load option. If each rack is half full or less, you can select this option on either the Power Scrub Plus, Regular, or Auto Wash cycles, to run a load which uses dramatically less water and energy. |

Faster than a speeding bullet! |

| OK, maybe it's not quite that fast, but the QuickWash cycle on Bosch's SHV45M03UC is pretty zippy. It's the fastest cycle Bosch has come up with yet. It will wash a load of six place settings in thirty minutes. Andrettis, stand aside, there's a new speed champion in town! |
