Leader . . . or backup . . . |
The Asko D3731XLFI is hands-down one of the best dishwashers money can buy. It works great to wash almost any load of dishes. But, not only is it one of the most versatile dishwashers on the market, it's a team player. The D3731XLFI, or Encore for simplicity, was designed to work well as a single dishwasher for homes, especially for entertaining situations, such as under a bar. But, it was also drawn up to work as a supplement for your current dishwasher. Its flexibility in dish loads gives it the ability to wash many items that other dishwashers can't. To do this, it features nine different temperature settings ranging from 85° F to 170° F and six distinct cycles, including Heavy, Pots 'n' Pans, and Glass. Superhero or sidekick, the Encore is ready to go to work on your dishes all of them to earn its name. |
Hide and seek, anyone? |
Remember how you used to play hide-and-seek as a little kid? Remember how you used to crawl into the kitchen cabinets and hide behind the cupboard doors? Well, the Asko D3731XLFI (Encore) still does. Give it a break, though. It is brand new to the world, and it's a pretty good hider. True, it doesn't move, but it also disguises itself really well as part of the scenery. Unless you knew where it was, it would be almost impossible not to mistake it for another cabinet. This is because, unlike most dishwashers that come in only black, white, stainless steel, or maybe even an oddball hue like bisque, the only limit on the design of the door panel design on the Encore is your imagination. It comes out of the box with a plain steel front with holes in it. Not very attractive? Simply attach a custom door panel from your local cabinetmaker (not included) to perfectly match (or complement) the rest of your kitchen decor. Just don't forget which "cabinet" it is. |
Equal opportunity |
Every time you load the dishwasher, you end up with same couple of odds and ends dishes that don't seem to have a good place to fit in the load. That just seems to be how it goes in life. That's because most dishwashers are not flexible or accommodating to certain dishes. These discriminatory machines are usually fairly fixed in the layout of their racks, with little ability to adjust to fit your oddball dishes. At most, they might have a flip-down set of tines or two. The Encore dishwasher is considerably more progresssive. Since its conception, one of the central focuses of this dishwasher has been its adaptability to accommodate for varied loads of dishes. Aside from its selections of cycles and temperatures, the Encore features 4 removable, adjustable inserts on the bottom basket (3 for stemware, 1 for dinnerware), unique spray arm positions, an adjustable upper cutlery basket, and a FlexiRack system. All of these come together to form the most inclusionary dishwasher on the market. Period. This will put an end to those dishes from two weeks ago that just never seemed to fit right. |
Easy on Earth |
The Encore dishwasher, like all Asko models, meets ENERGY STAR standards. But, Asko's commitment to lessening their environmental impact didn't stop just because they had their ENERGY STAR sticker. Asko takes many other measures to make sure they leave mother nature as healthy as possible. For example, they mark every part of their dishwasher over three ounces for recycling. Every one of their dishwasher models meets the minimum energy efficiency requirements need to be designated ENERGY STAR. To do so requires an energy efficiency rating 41% better than the national minimum for new appliances. But, not only do Askos meet these standards, they exceed them significantly. Some models exceed the national minimum by 141% (only one brand of dishwashers can beat this). The Encore, despite its numerous features and outstanding performance and quality, found a way to be 89% more efficient than national standards, which is more than twice the minimum for ENERGY STAR. You can get an exterior panel for the Encore in any color you choose, but at its heart, it's all green. Coincidentally, you'll be seeing a lot more green in your pocketbook with the savings from water and electricity bills from your ENERGY STAR appliance. Everybody wins with the Encore. |
Here to stay |
Aesthetic features like custom integration are great, but a dishwasher of any quality can be painted. It's what's on the inside that counts. After all, you're buying a "dishwasher," not a "customizable box," so it's important to know that your dishwasher will stand the test of not only quality, but time. The stainless steel tank, spray arms, and filtration system of the D3731XLFI won't rust, chip, or absorb odors. The one-piece, galvanized steel base pan provides superior structural integrity and reduces vibrations, and is not available on any competitively made U.S. unit. The electronic controls are double-sealed from moisture. The door springs are designed to last 20 years. It also features two pumps and two motors, versus one each on most builds, which not only makes it last longer, it makes it run more efficiently. So where's the proof that this will all really hold up? For lack of pudding, we'll look at warranties. While most dishwashers have a one-year warranty, Asko guarantees the quality of their build for two full years, plus an additional year when you register your product online. Looks like it's going to be here for awhile . . . |
It's what's on the inside that counts |
The interior layout of a dishwasher is also important. After all, if it isn't right for your dishes, you're going to regret your purchase for years to come, which is why Asko put so much thought into the design of the D3731XLFI. The rack design is innovation on a whole new level. Both the top and bottom racks are coated with Viscant graphite nylon for durability, but both racks have very different purposes. The bottom is designed for plates, or heavier, dirtier dishes, such as cookware. The top holds smaller, less dirty dishes, such as bowls, cups, or saucers. The best part is that you can use this to your advantage when selecting cycles. The racks are designed to accomodate a variety of dishes at the same time, and with no bulky central water tower or connectors, the D3731XLFI can handle more than 12 international place settings at once. The bottom cutlery basket features eight individual compartments for untensils, including a containment lid for two, as well as a fold-down handle. Finally, double-coated, top-cushioned tines keep your fingers and dishes safe. It's this attention to even the smallest details that has earned Asko a reputation as one of the highest-quality dishwasher manufacturers in the industry. |
