Accordingly, Maytag has equipped this Bravos washer with innovative and automatic sensor-based wash systems that dramatically curb energy use. First off, an InelliFill water-level control system senses load size and composition, automatically adjusting the water level for optimal cleaning and rinsing performance. Second, an Automatic Temperature Control system electronically senses and maintains uniform water temperatures using the built-in water heater to regulate incoming water temperatures. Consistent, optimal temperatures result in ideal washing conditions and the elimination of excess energy use. Finally, leading the pack, the Sensi-Care wash system uses built-in sensors to monitor each load's progress, adjusting cycle parameters like length and temperature for a clean that is both customized to each load and energy efficient. Efficiency, Part III: Beyond the wash
The rinse cycles at the end of any wash cycle are responsible for most of a washer's water use. Further, spin cycles constitute a fair portion of its energy use. Curbing energy and resource consumption at a cycle's end and beyond, Maytag has designed the MVWB850W with two high-performance technologies. First, by using a spray instead of a deep soak to rinse clothes at the end of a cycle, the Water Save spray rinse significantly reduces the amount of water used in removing detergent from your clothes. Second, a MaxExtract spin cycle spins rinsed clothes at up to 1100 rpm for an extended period of time, removing more moisture from clothes. Accordingly, drying times and associated energy costs are reduced. All considered — from the extra-large 5.0 cu. ft. drum, to the sensor-based wash systems, to advanced rinse and spin technologies — it's no surprise that the MVWB850W has earned an ENERGY STAR qualification from the U.S. federal government, signaling exceptional energy efficiency.
More on the wash: Gentle strength
You always want your washer to be gentle on your clothes. But sometimes a particularly tough or stubborn stain requires a heavy hand. Delivering a gentle touch, even when strength is needed, the MVWB850W features the IntelliClean impeller washing action. Unlike most top-load washers with vertical agitator columns in the middle of the wash tub, the MVWB850W uses an impeller located at the bottom of the wash tub to circulate clothes through water and detergent up the middle of the tub and down the edges. The result is an incredibly gentle touch. And when a little extra elbow grease is needed to tackle deep stains, the MVWB850W serves up Power Wash and Clean Boost cycles. First, the Power Wash cycle uses extra cleaning action and a deep rinse to remove the toughest stains. Second, the Clean Boost option ensures better soil and stain removal by maintaining the selected wash temperature throughout the wash period with the use of the washer's built-in heater. The Clean Boost option even reduces the need to pre-treat stains, and is safe for all fabrics.
For really clean clothes
Even something as innocent as a wet towel from your afternoon out at the lake that's been left at the bottom of the hamper for a few days can be an ideal environment for mold growth. Helping ensure that your clothes aren't just clean, but also sanitary, Maytag has outfitted the MVWB850W with an NSF-certified Sanitary wash cycle. When used in conjunction with an oxygen-based stain fighter, the Sanitary cycle with Oxi Treat Stains option eliminates 99.9% of bacteria and other microorganisms. Now, those are really clean clothes.
