Size isn't everything |
With many dryers today, the most bragged-up feature is the capacity. The slightest increase in drum size is touted as a huge advantage. If you have really large laundry loads, having the largest capacity is important. But if you don't need to wash circus tents, or the jerseys from an entire football team, chances are you don't need the largest drum size. Instead, something a little more economical might suit you better. The Maytag Epic z™ MEDZ400TQ is just such a machine. It features 6.7 cubic feet of capacity, which is plenty for your average load of household laundry, but is less expensive than the 7-plus cubic foot behemoths. It's also slightly smaller, and is stackable with the MHWZ400TQ washer, giving you plenty of flexibility in its placement. So if you're looking for a dependable, quality, economical washer, and you don't need to be able to wash clothes for a family of 20, check out the MEDZ400TQ from Maytag. |
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! |
Many old topload dryers were scarcely quieter than jackhammers. But you don't have to choose between delaying your load of laundry or delaying your conversation with the MEDZ400TQ. It features QuietSeries 300 sound packaging to keep you from having to worry about the noise level of the dryer. In fact, it's so quiet, you might even have to check that it's on. It won't even disturb a baby in the next room. Now that's quiet. |
Decisions, decisions |
With the MEDZ400TQ, you have some serious decisions to make. Choices like whether or not to turn on an end-of-cycle signal, or whether to activate the 90-minute Wrinkle Prevent option. In total, there are eight different cycles. The five IntelliSensor cycles are heavy duty, jeans, normal, wrinkle control, delicate. These cycles use moisture sensors to determine when your clothes are dry, but you get to choose how dry, either less, normal, or more. The three timed cycles are timed dry, rapid dry, and freshen up. With these, you get to decide how long to dry your clothes for. But, on top of that, with the timed cycles, you can choose whether to use high, regular, medium, low, extra low, or air fluff temperature. You can also delay the start of your laundry load up to eight hours. With so many options, you may need some time to think. Of course, all the sensor cycles come with their own standard presets, so you don't have to worry about the washer being too complicated, but know that if you want to be a rebel and adjust the presets, you have that option. |
Sense-ible |
You might be wondering exactly how your dryer knows when your load of clothes is finished correctly. Well, basically it has sensors that measure how much moisture is in the dryer, and using the dryness level you selected, determines when the clothes are adequately dried. This is more energy efficient, makes clothes last longer, and even keeps them from shrinking. Quite the sense-ible solution. |
Built to last |
Convenience features are a great thing to have on a dryer, but really meaningless if the washer itself only lasts a few months. The friendly folks at Maytag didn't overlook this fact when building the MEDZ400TQ. A SmoothBalance suspension system keeps everything balanced to increase the life of the machine. The top is finished with powdercoating on steel, for increased durability, and as an added benefit, is a SpillSaver design. Finally, the door handle is heavy duty, as are the die-cast hinges. With so many durability features, "tough as nails" is an understatement. |
A match made in heaven . . . sort of |
The Maytag MEDZ400TQ works well with nearly any washer, but it does after all have an soulmate, or at least, a controlboardmate. The MEDZ400TQ is designed to work perfectly with the MHWZ400TQ washer. The two are identical in styling, and performance-wise designed to work together as an ideal pair. You might say it's a match made in heaven, but really it all started on a design board. |
