The Advantage Of The Flavorizer® Bar

The Flavorizer® bar is a great feature that Weber users really love: While you are cooking, fats and juices land on the Flavorizer® Bars and are vaporized. Not only does the resulting vapor infuse your food with that delicious smoky flavor we all love about barbecue, but they greatly reduce flare-ups. A flare-up happens when the drippings hit the flame source, which makes a flash of flame that can char and discolor your meats, and deposits the burnt fuel onto your foods. Some grills utilize charcoal or lava briquettes to act as a barrier and enhance flavor, but the problem with these is that the lava rock can be slightly misplaced, or get used up relatively fast, making flare-ups still an issue.
