TomTom has pre-installed all the software and maps you need to navigate anywhere in the U.S. on one SD memory card included with unit. Simply slide the card into the slot and you're on your way with uncluttered maps, easy-to-operate controls, and precise on-screen directions as well as verbal instructions. With large touchscreen icons, making selections is faster and less distracting than fumbling for the correct button. One of the screen displays is a keyboard with an intuitive approach to entering addresses. You need only type a few characters of the city or street name before TomTomGOPlus pulls up the correct option for you to choose. Specify the house number on a street or select a nearby intersection if you don't know the number. Vivid 3-D navigation views allow a better understanding of your current position and any upcoming actions or points of interest. For night driving, there are low-glare display settings with color schemes designed for viewing after your eyes have adjusted to the dark.

The very latest maps of the U.S. from TomTom and Major Road Network of America are included with the TomTomGOPlus, viewable in either 2-D or 3-D mode. Switching from 3-D to 2-D allows you to see more of the surrounding area. These maps give you comprehensive coverage of the country; but dispite having more information than ever, they don't take up more memory because of the most recent memory-saving technology. If you're in an unfamilar location but need to find a gas station, restaurant, parking facility, store, amusement attraction, or the airport, TomTomGOPlus will show you the way. Just touch the appropriate icon and choose from thousands of points of interest in more than 50 categories. Use the roadblock feature to calculate an alternative route in an instant. Avoid traffic jams, road work, accidents, or anything else that might get in your way. And if there's a road you really don't like driving, you can block that from your route too.

Even More Maps

Using your personal computer, you can choose additional detailed street maps for the U.S. and Canada to download to your TomTomGOPlus. These additional maps are stored on CD and are installed using a USB cable. Both the map CDs and the cable are included with your purchase. Your PC must have Internet access, run Windows 98 through XP operating systems, and have a CD-ROM and USB port. If your vehicle has an athermic heat-reflecting windshield, the TomTomGOPlus may not be able to receive satellite signals on its built-in antenna; an external GPS antenna or re-radiation antenna (neither one included) might be needed. Once you get on the GO, you'll never have to stop to ask for directions again!
