Cinema Smooth light engine

Samsung is a leader in creating light engines that harness DLP HDTV technology from Texas Instruments. The Cinema Smooth light engine in the HL72A650 creates a brilliant picture that's more lifelike and much closer to film quality than previous technologies. You can rely on the HL72A650 DLP HDTV to deliver sharp, 1080p high definition resolution with high contrast and brightness, defined edges, and sharp details.

DLP chips from Texas Instruments

Samsung employs a Texas Instruments DLP chip in the HL72A650 that is comprised of millions of microscopic mirrors. The DLP chip is faster than any other HDTV technology, with the mirrors switching on and off 15,000 times a second to deliver a razor-sharp picture for fast moving images. When combined with Samsung's Cinema Smooth 120Hz light engine, the result is a crisp, bright picture with deep, rich colors that's closer to film.

3D HDTV

Now television is more immersive than ever! Thanks to the HL72A650's 3D-ready design, you're ready to experience a whole new dimension in home theater video. In order to take advantage of this new and emerging advancement in home theater video, you're going to need an HDMI-equipped computer and additional 3D glasses and hardware from Samsung (all sold separately). Once connected, the HL72A650's CinemaSmooth light engine's 120Hz capabilities team up with Samsung's wireless 3D glasses (sold separately) to truly "fill" your home theater or living room with a stunning video experience. Three HDMI inputs
