Not of the culinary variety — noise reduction

Distortion and variance caused by interference from other electronic components are inherent characteristics of any electronic signal. Such minor disturbances in a signal's integrity can result in flaws in the signal's output — like a video image on an HDTV — and these flaws are often referred to simply as "noise". Not willing that you should have to endure a less-than-perfect hi def video image on your new KDL46V4100, Sony designed this LCD with Dynamic Noise Reduction. This technology intelligently identifies and dramatically reduces signal noise according to the motion and brightness of each scene for clearer, crisper images, frame after frame.
