Looks Great, Fits Nicely
The 32HL84 delivers the ultimate in convenience by combining a 32" HD LCD display with built-in speakers and an 181 channel tuner. No need to worry about having enough space anymore. Full broadcast stereo sound provides quality audio. An MTS (Multi-channel Television Sound) decoder enables the television to accept and decode a broadcast stereo signal. Unlike some systems that delete dbx, MTS provides the full quality of the original stereo broadcast. SAP (Secondary Audio Program) enables the reception of bilingual broadcasts (when available). Of course with a range of connections you could hook up this LCD TV to your system, but it's capable of a superb performance all by itself. That's nice right, but, if for you image is everything, you'll be glad to know it provides superb functionality and a stunning picture with a 720p High Definition screen. It's perfect for viewing high definition, standard television signals and DVD movies.
Image Is Important
They key to Toshiba's fixed pixel picture quality is Pixel Pure: a combination of eight different digital video processing circuits that combine to create a consistently clearer, deeper and more accurate picture. Another important aspect of this TV is that it's a LCD projector, which works like a flashlight to create an image. The white light is separated into red, green, and blue beams, which are fed separately through the panels, recombined to create the full color image, then enlarged to fill your screen. The panel resolution of 1366 x 768 makes this screen produce detailed pictures. This LCD projector is lightweight, but provides rich colors and sharp contrast for a huge, high-quality image. The HD Dynamic Contrast feature of the 32HL84 increases contrast and color saturation to create deep, rich images. Its intelligent circuitry analyzes both the dark and bright areas of the picture, and separately optimizes the dynamic range in each area of the picture. Contrast ratio is extremely important to Toshiba and is part of the reason their TVs have such great picture quality. Contrast ratio is the proportion between the brightest and darkest sections of an image. The higher the contrast ratio, the clearer the image and the better the picture. For example, 500:1 is better than 200:1. The higher contrast ratio of 800:1 on this TV produces the well-defined, realistic images while the 3DYC Digital Comb Filter with Vertical Contour Correction also help keep images looking their best. In addition, the CableClear DNR+ (by input) utilizes the digital 3D/YC Comb Filter to compare frames and identify video noise. It then applies the needed amount of digital video noise reduction, and sharpness adjustment to keep the picture clear. And, don't forget the MODES! There's a Movie and Sports Mode and a Cinema Mode to make your favorite activities more enjoyable and the TheaterWide Modes are ideal for HDTV signals and enhanced DVDs. There are five options to chose from so you can crop the pictures as you like. Isn't it nice to know that quality doesn't have to be sacrificed for convenience? As great as all those features are, however, there are even more additions that makes this a very high quality LCD TV.
Sounds Good To Me
Quality images may be what you desire most, but the audio features on this TV aren't anything to sneeze at either; its features create a dramatically improved home theater sound with 20 total watts. The SRS WOW technology creates a more enveloping sound with enhanced bass and better dialogue reproduction. This system is a combination of three unique sound field enhancements: SRS 3D TruSurround to create a wide, three-dimensional sound field from two TV speakers, TruBass for boosting bass for dramatic low frequency effects, and, FOCUS to raise the sound image vertically for clearer voices, even at lower volume levels. SRS WOW technology takes the performance of the television's existing speakers to a whole new level-without additional speakers. And for those of you who just hate it when loud commercials unexpectedly blast you out of your socks, the StableSound feature maintains the volume within a preset range, regardless of the source signal.
Easy Entertainment
Like all of Toshiba's TV combination models, this one also offers very user-friendly features and advanced functionality that make operation a breeze, including a 6-Item A/V illuminated remote for easy operation in a dark living room. It's ergonomically designed and puts the most used functions right at your thumb. It comes preprogrammed to operate up to six components, including a TV, DVD player, VCD, Cable Box, and two other audio or video components of your home theater. It's got host of inputs and outputs so you'll have plenty of hook-up options. The easy front A/V/S inputs will let you effortlessly plug in your camcorder or video game. There's also a DVI input, rear A/V, S-Video, Component Video inputs, plus a Video and Audio (F + V) outputs so you can be sure to get the highest quality connection allowable for your equipment. The 32HL84 is also stacked with convenient features- like Surflock, which gives you the freedom to channel surf during commercials, then immediately come back to your program with the push of one button. It's got the super nice HD Window POP (Picture On Picture) with Split Screen and Multi-Window (12). This lets you watch two programs simultaneously, even 4:3 images and 16:9 images at the same time. The Split Screen lets you increase or decrease each POP picture and the MultiWindow will let you watch one show in a big window and surf channels in a smaller POP box. It's also family-friendly. There are Video and Channel Locks to keep kids totally "out" while the V-chip let's you censor the type of TV programs they can watch. The really nice GamerTimer feature lets you set the television to shut off (and stay locked until you enter the lockout code) after a designated period of time so you'll no longer have to fight with the kids about how long they've been using it. The convenient On/Off Timer will let them fall asleep to a late night movie and wake up to cartoons (or the news, for you).
