1080p: full HD |
The Toshiba REGZA 52XV540U is built with the latest in video technology: 1080p full High Definition signal display. This means it will play Blu-ray Discs (or HD-DVDs if you have them) without having to downscale them. The resolution at 1920 x 1080 pixels, provides more than 2 million different pixels for your viewing pleasure. This is more than double 720p resolution. By the way, the p stands for progressive, meaning that rather than risk poor signal quality by interlacing, your picture will display all at once, making it crisper, especially with fast action sequences. This full HD screen is ready to bring you the best picture out there today! |
Lights, camera, ACTION! |
Many TVs today are great for viewing slow motion panamora scans or slideshows, providing crisp colors and a clear picture. The only problem comes when trying to view that high speed car chase in the latest action thriller. The problem is that movies on film are shot at 24 fps (frames per second) and video for TV is shot at 30 fps, so no matter how great the contrast ratio is, or how high the resolution is, this frame rate difference can cause action to display as jumpy or blurred on many TVs. But not on the 52XV540U. While most televisions display both video and movies on film at 30 fps, the 52XV540U uses its PixelPure 4G internal video processing to create interpolated images to play at a frame rate of 120Hz (evenly divisible by both 24 and 30), providing you with a smooth, blur-free picture. This will work for just about any action shot, or will display even the fastest video games problem-free. Combine that with the CineSpeed LCD panel, which has 8ms or less response speed, and you've got yourself one racing TV. |
A real life saver |
A faster frame rate isn't the only amenity added to the 52XV540U for gamers (because gamers get overlooked by TV manufacturers too often). This set will display 1080p output PS3 games with the best possible picture. Even better than that, though, is the designated Gaming mode. In gaming terms, reacting too slowly can cost you your life. A slight lag between the controller and the screen, and your character can fall prey to a bullet from an enemy sniper, leaving you waiting to respawn. In Gaming mode, the 52XV540U gets rid of this lag, ensuring that your character reacts as fast as you do. Unfortunately, this means you'll have no excuse for falling victim to an attack. |
Bringing you stability |
Having commercials play twice as loudly as normal programming may be clever marketing, but it's sure annoying. Then, when the show comes back on, you can't hear a word unless the characters are yelling. It's ridiculous! Toshiba thought so too. That's why they built StableSound into the 52XV540U. StableSound keeps the volume within a discrete range, regardless of the source level. This way, you can hear whisper-soft conversations in the latest drama without losing an eardrum on commercial breaks. |
Vivid, vivacious, vibrant! |
With the 52XV540U, you'll experience color like never before. Your eyes will be opened to a rich array of hues the likes of which only reality can rival. With ColorBurst Wide Color Gamut CCFL, the number of available colors is expanded, and the color accuracy is improved. This significantly improves both color purity and color saturation. The combination of ColorBurst and superior video processing creates colors that are more vibrant, more natural, and more enjoyable. These colors almost put reality to shame! |
TheaterWide |
The 52XV540U features TheaterWide. If you're wondering what exactly that is, sets with TheaterWide modes are ideal for displaying HDTV signals as well as enhanced for widescreen television DVDs. TheaterWide 1 is a letterboxed image digitally expanded 33% horizontally and vertically, useful for reproducing Academy Standard (1.85:1) formatted content. TheaterWide 2 is a letterboxed image expanded 33% horizontally and 42% vertically. particularly useful when viewing narrow letterboxed images originally filmed in Panavision or CinemaScope. TheaterWide 3 is a letterboxed image expanded 33% horizontally and 24% vertically, useful when displaying letterboxed images that incorporate narrow bands at the top and bottom of the picture. With all these TheaterWide modes, you can disregard that Formatted To Fit Your Screen alert. |
