Sony XBR-55HX929 is the closest LEDLCD image quality to plasma there is. We live at an elevation of 7,300 feet and decided against a plasma since Samsung admits plasmas are designed to work under 6,500 feet elevation. After researching and floor shopping til I was worn out I chose this makemodel. Consumer Reports ranked it tops too! It has an terrific 2D and 3D image. I didnt want to sacrifice 3D image definition for the less expensive passive 3D so this model fit the bill for that too. The TV has more connections than many other TVs so you can connect just about anything up to it. I have had it only a couple weeks. My reluctant wife has even taken a liking to it. . . ! I like how the stock base swivels sideways and updown so now I dont need to buy and install a $300 articulating wall mount. Screen reflection is no problem at all in our arrangement. The high 960 refresh rate seems to be more than adequate. The Sony web browser is primitive and it does not play the videos I have tried because it apparently doesnt have capability to download players. I am still learning features. Seems like the TV has more than enough bells and whistles than I will ever use. Sony delivered a solid product with this unit!

One of the best tvs that I have ever owned, and Ive owned some outstanding XBRs. Superior picture, dazzling color, and excellent sound. Easy set-up, intuitive menus, and Vanns gave me a great price. Highly recommend the set as well as purchasing the set from Vanns.

This unit is outstanding. Picture is really good right out of the box! HDTV looks outstanding and even 480i looks clean and crisp. The only negative thing about this is the placement of the speakers...they are on the back of the tv so you need either a sound bar or surround sound. Watching Blu-Ray movies is phenomenal...picture quality is very smooth and clear! I think Ill buy the 46 version for my man cave!

Its very nice looking great picure quality but I am disappointed with the picture quality of standard definition and even some cable hd channels. It appears to be a focus problem at times which sony attributes to a poor signal but I have better results on an older sony xbr tv- 46xbr9. I also missed analog rca audio output for use with older Bose Cinemate spkr system. It does have optical digital audio output and for some reason analog headphone output. It connected to the internet easily and Netflix quality is very good.. I havent tried 3D yet. Overall, I like the tv have had many Sony TVs over the years but I would be hard pressed to pay full price for this tv. I got a good deal at Vanns. Its also nice to have a 18 month warranty.

I was finally able to get a look at the the Sony XBR 55HX929 and it is the best Sony television ever. I am VERY impressed with the quality of the picture. The colors are vibrant and the various shades are very pleasing to the eye. I have not had an opportunity to check out all of the features yet but the regular television view is outstanding.
