Three cheers . . . 3D ready!
The third dimension. It's the future of HD home theater viewing . . and it's here. With a C7000 series LED HDTV from Samsung, you're ready for it. As a part of the C7000 series, the 46" UN46C7000 LED LCD HDTV sports integrated 3D-capable technology that, when combined with a 3D video source and 3D Active Glasses (sold separately), gives you the ability to experience three-dimensional viewing right in your living room. Samsung's 3D technology uses the same principles upon which human sight is based to achieve a 3D effect in the home theater. By themselves, each human eye sees only two dimensions. However, because our eyes are set slightly apart, each sees an object or scene from a slightly different angle. And when the brain processes the images seen by each eye into a single image, we are able to perceive depth in what we are seeing. Add depth to the height and width (2D) seen by each single eye, and ta-da: 3D! For its part, a Samsung C7000 series panel actually shows two different versions of a movie on the screen at the same time (alternating frames from each at extremely high speeds). What makes the two versions different is that they were filmed from slightly different angles. Now, 3D Active Glasses communicate wirelessly with the C7000 HDTV. Using special liquid-crystal lenses, the 3D glasses alternately block out the left or right lens in coordination with the frames flashing on-screen. Accordingly, the right eye sees only the "version" of the movie intended for the right eye, and the left eye only sees its version. Just as with normal human sight, the brain combines the two versions into one, and voilà, you see 3D. Three cheers!
And now . . . the Full HD, 240Hz panel itself
So far, we've spent quite a chunk of time hailing the UN46C7000's advanced viewing features. But equally as impressive as 3D viewing capability is this C7000 series HDTV's panel itself. Naturally, this Samsung HDTV delivers a Full HD 1920 x 1080p resolution, compatible with the highest resolution video sources available. Further, 240Hz Clear Motion technology serves up exceptionally clear, smooth, and lifelike on-screen motion, even when watching high-speed sports or action-movie sequences. And we haven't even mentioned that this is an LED LCD HDTV. Using edge-lit LED backlighting, the UN46C7000 is not only able to deliver enhanced color purity and staggering black levels (the hallmarks of lifelike detail), but it is also able to achieve an incredibly thin panel — only 1.0" thick! Finally, Ultra Clear Panel technology and a Wide Color Enhancer team up to bring crisp details, natural skin tones, excellent shadow detail, and vibrant colors to your home HD viewing experience.
Skype . . . Internet@TV widgets . . . the Samsung internet experience
For a couple of years now, the folks at Samsung have been leading the way with internet-capable HDTV design. And, well, with the C7000 series, it's possible that they might just have outdone themselves . . . again. Alone, the UN46C7000's rear-panel ethernet port might seem pretty innocent. But, when combined with innovative Samusung technologies, it opens up a dazzling interactive experience. First, Internet@TV delivers access to a wide range on online features via internet widgets and Samsung Apps: Check the weather at AccuWeather.com. Keep up on breaking news at The Associated Press. Manage your Netflix queue. Tweet on Twitter. Stream custom radio from Pandora. And this is just the beginning. Second, the C7000 series introduces built-in Skype compatibility. In case you haven't heard, Skype in an online, IP-based, picture-in-picture way to make video calls via the internet. The basic service is totally free; all you need is a headphone/microphone headset. Now you can video chat with other Skype users around the world using a 46" HDTV!
Add a little "depth" — 2D to 3D conversion
When it comes to home theater entertainment, 3D video is right on par with high-definition Blu-ray video with regards to revolutionizing your viewing experience. And just as the transition from standard definition to HD has been facilitated by DVD video upscaling technology, Samsung is easing your home theater's transition to 3D by equipping its 3D-capable panels with 2D-to-3D conversion technology. Built-in processing circuitry found on C7000 series panels adds virtual depth to standard 2D video, so that when viewed with your Samsung 3D active shutter glasses, 2D content appears with genuine, simulated 3D spatiality. While native 3D content always delivers a more immersive three-dimensional viewing experience, simulated 3D content is a great way to begin enjoying your new 3D Samsung HDTV's potential while new 3D movies are being released.
Beyond your standard connections
Yes, it certainly is a big deal that the UN46C7000 LED HDTV offers four HDMI inputs. That's the most advanced, single-cable video and audio connection available . . . times four. In other words, you're equipped to connect up to four HD-capable devices to this C7000 series panel. And yes, the rear-panel ethernet port does deliver unprecedented online interactivity. But when it comes to connections, the UN46C7000 raises the bar even further. First, AllShare technology allows you to sync the UN46C7000 up with your home network either via ethernet or wirelessly (with the separate 2010 LinkStick). Once connected, you're free to stream audio and video from your PC directly to the UN46C7000 using the remote control. Second, with ConnectShare Movie technology, you can connect a thumbdrive or digital camera to one of the UN46C7000's two USB ports, and then use a simple on-screen interface to access video, music, or photos stored on the connected device. Finally, no matter your source of audio or video — Blu-ray player, satellite, or PC — BD Wise technology automatically adjusts all components for the best picture and sound quality.
Not just efficient . . . 57% more efficient
Even with all of the innovative functionalities added to the C7000 series, Samsung has maintained the energy-efficient performance for which their LED HDTVs are known. In fact, they've made them even more efficient. Not only does the UN46C7000 satisfy the U.S. government's ENERGY STAR 4.0 qualifications — the latest for display devices — but it surpasses those requirements by a whopping 57%. Now, naturally the LED backlight is much more efficient than the CCFL backlights used in standard LCD HDTVs. But when it comes to the C7000 series, there's more to the story. You see, the UN46C7000 features a built-in Light Sensor that measures levels of ambient light in your viewing area and then automatically adjusts the panel's brightness for optimal viewing. Because the Light Sensor ensures that brightness levels never exceed what is necessary for ideal viewing, energy use is minimized, especially when viewing in low-light areas.
And for the gamers
The folks at Samsung give a nod to gamers with the C7000 series. The UN46C7000's Game Mode enhances dark areas, sharpens the picture, accelerates image processing, and enhances audio output. In other words, the UN46C7000's performance can be optimized for the special needs of gaming content at the touch of a button.
The advanced connectivity of HDMI
Bringing you the absolute best in connectivity, Samsung's UN46C7000 features four HDMI inputs. HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the only interface in consumer electronics that can carry both uncompressed high-definition (HD) video and uncompressed multi-channel audio in all HD formats including 720p, 1080i and even 1080p. Your incoming media content comes in a variety of sizes, resolutions and formats, and with that in mind, HDMI systems automatically configure to display that content in the most effective format. Since HDMI carries all channels on video and audio, there is only one cable to plug into any HDMI-enabled source and display device. No more complicated cable set-up when installing your home theater system, and no more ugly cable mess behind your components. HDMI supports standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on this single cable. Also, HDMI is fully backward-compatible with DVI. (Please note that a physical adapter, sold separately, is needed to make the conversion from HDMI to DVI.)
Your HD lifeline
High Definition Multimedia Interface, or HDMI, is the only home A/V connection that allows for both Full HD 1080p video and 7.1-channel studio-quality audio to be passes along a single cable. In other words, in order to take full advantage of your home theater's high definition potential, you need to HDMI cabling to link HD-capable components.
